The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has announced that the Federal Government will launch the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) in all Federal universities by next year.
Alausa made this known at the TETFUND EIBIC launch in Abuja on Friday
“Today, EIBIC is being rolled out in 14 other universities; by next year, all federal universities will be on board, with some federal polytechnics and colleges of education,” the minister said.
“By the end of 2028, all our Federal tertiary institutions will be fully onboarded, and I tell you what we are doing is not abstract at all, it’s carefully connected.”
He noted that the most commendable feature of EIBIC is that it is structured and has a multi-level approach
“Early exposure at the 100 level to ignite progressive skill development through 200 level and 300 level, full business in probation, mentorship, and venture creation at the final stages,” he said.

According to him, it ensures that entrepreneurship is not treated as a theoretical concept.
He further described EIBIC as a live experience that combines innovation and real impact.
“Today, this program extends far beyond individual students, as outlined in the program document.
“It reduces youth unemployment, stimulates innovation and productivity, supports creation, enterprise development, and fosters culture, problem-solving, and creativity across the nation,” Alausa added
The minister also stated that a few months ago, in December precisely, they launched the students’ venture capital grant to support the innovators at various institutions.
“This was opened to all institutions across the country, private and public, to help unleash the capacity that is innate in our youths and students. We are giving them a 50 million grant to support their ventures to scale up,” the minister said.
EIBIC Initiative
The Federal Ministry of Education launches the EIBIC Programme to empower young entrepreneurs, drive innovation, support enterprise growth, and strengthen education’s role in Nigeria’s economic transformation and inclusive national development.
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has successfully held its EIBIC Programme for all 100 and 200-level students of the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
