A group of youths under the aegis of National Youth Vanguards for All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its decision to upload National Assembly candidates who emerged at the various primaries conducted and officially monitored by the electoral body across the state
The Secretary of the group, Samuel Adikwu, gave the commendation on Friday in Makurdi during a press briefing to underscore the internal democracy of the party.
Adiku said this was expressed in the results announced, noting that they reflect the will of party members during the APC National Assembly primary election monitored by INEC.
According to the group, the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to upload only the National Assembly candidates who emerged at primaries monitored by the commission will go a long way in resolving the impending crisis in the APC across the country.
The APC National Working Committee had, two weeks ago, substituted the names of some APC National Assembly candidates with the names of serving National Assembly members in some states of the Federation.
This action has generated heat in the All Progressives Congress, with some candidates who felt cheated threatening to go to court to reclaim their mandates.
But just a day ago, the Independent National Electoral Commission cleared the air by promising not to upload names of candidates who didn’t emerge through primary elections that the commission monitored across the country.

Reacting to INEC’s decision, the National Youth Vanguards for APC stated that INEC has once again proved that it’s reliable.
The group urged President Bola Tinubu to immediately prevail upon the party’s National Working Committee under Nentawe Yilwadta to shun the “illegality” they want to impose on the ruling party
The group further stated that Governor Hyacinth Alia has delivered dividends of democracy to Benue State across many sectors.
It urged Governor Alia not to lose sight of the development his administration is delivering to improve the standard of living for Benue residents while assuring him of their total support to ensure his administration and the APC in Benue State succeed.
While also pledging unalloyed loyalty to President Tinubu, the group assured him of massive mobilisation across the state ahead of his re-election in 2027.
It said Benue State under his administration has benefited immensely in the area of capital projects like the Makurdi-Enugu dualisation project, the Makurdi flyover bridge, the River Buruku Bridge, key appointments, and several socio-safety programmes.
The group urged him to ensure justice is done in the nomination of National Assembly candidates who emerged from the nationwide congresses held in May.
