The opposition party in Cross River state, the All progressives Congress (APC) says the local council election of Saturday is a sham and mere charade.
The party says for them, no election was held and that the cross river independent electoral commission as acted on illegality by going ahead with the election without the party participating.
Meanwhile, the PDP in a swift reaction says the APC does not respect the voters by describing the process they turned out for as a sham.
A day before the election, there was ruling on the case as filed by APC, challenging the electoral commission’s decision not to allow them participate in the polls.
However, the results of the polls are yet to be announced by the electoral commission.
Less than 24 hours before the local council election in Cross River there were uncertainty about the possibility of the polls holding due to the case All Progressives Congress (APC) has in court.
The APC dragged the State Independent Electoral commission to court after it appears the party may not be able to participate in the polls due to the law which stipulates that a party must be registered 90 days before election.
