According to Uefa.com, the team was selected by UEFA’s 13-strong panel of technical observers, led by UEFA chief technical officer Ioan Lupescu and including Sir Alex Ferguson, Alain Giresse, David Moyes, Packie Bonner and Mixu Paatelainen.

Others are Savo Milošević, Peter Rudbæk, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Schaaf, Jean-François Domergue, Ginés Meléndez and Jean-Paul Brigger.

The technical observers have made their choices based on various criteria, which had been outlined before the tournament.

The formation was selected as the most-used of the finals. Two technical observers were present at every game and their reports will contribute to the UEFA EURO 2016 technical report, which will be released on UEFA.com in September.

UEFA coaching ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson said: “After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at UEFA EURO 2016.

“We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals.

“We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition.”

In the past a 23-man squad was selected with Ronaldo (2004 and 2012) and Pepe (2008 and 2012) both previously picked twice. Ronaldo was also in the All-Time EURO 11 named before the tournament.

France Humble Iceland 5 – 2 In Euro 2016 Quarter Final

Euro-2016-FranceThe host nation of the on-going Euro 2016, France, have humiliated Iceland 5 – 2 to qualify for the semis.

The French demonstrated their superiority, as they shocked the Irish on Sunday night.

Arsenal striker, Giroud netted another fantastic goal in between Iceland’s Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Birkir Bjarnason goals.

France would contest for the final match’s ticket with Germany who earlier beat Italy 6 – 5 on penalties.

France Advance Into Euro 2016 Quarter-Finals

Euro 2016, France,Host country France had to battle from a goal down to beat the Republic of Ireland to reach the quarter-finals at the ongoing euro championship.

Ireland got off to a stunning start in the second minute, as Robbie Brady converted a penalty after Shane Long was fouled in the box.

But the French team hit back through Antoine Griezmann, who nodded in the equaliser before driving in the winning goal, both in the second half.

“I knew it was going to be a difficult match, and when Ireland took the lead it made us a bit more uncomfortable in the first half.

They showed a lot of enthusiasm but we had to dig deep, get through the situation and get in front,” France coach, Didier Deschamps, said.

He also explained his half time change which brought in Conman for Kante, “It was to get more presence up front. Ireland were quite deep so we wanted to get Griezmann closer to Giroud, bring on some speed with Coman and use the wings a bit better.

“But above all, to get more presence up front – the four attacking players all created chances.”

The Republic of Ireland ended the match with 10 men as Shane Duffy was sent off for a professional foul on Griezmann.

Didier Deschamps’s side will face England or Iceland in the next round at Stade de France on Sunday.

Euro 2016: Deschamp, Payet, React To Second Round Qualification

Euro 2016, Payet, DeschampThe coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, has praised the effort of his team in qualifying for the round of 16 of the UEFA Euro 2016 with victory over Albania on Wednesday.

The French coach was happy with the performance of France Midfielder, Dimitri Payet, praising his consistency on the ball and will to fight.

“Payet has become more consistent. He’s always had ability and a lot of confidence. Now, in one-on-one situations and challenges, he’s always up for the fight.

“Clearly we didn’t do everything well. If you’ve seen a team that has, please tell me. We were a bit laborious in the first 45 minutes because Albania were physically fresh,” he told Uefa.com.

Deschamp also commended the style of the Albanians, acknowledging their effort in defence and on the counter attack.

“Albania played with a lot of heart and spirit. They defended well and have the ability to counterattack. We might have scored earlier, we had a lot of chances. While it was goalless it was a good result for Albania. It’s always difficult against teams that keep it tight. Once we finally got going we let loose a bit, albeit slightly late in the day.

“Pogba (being on the bench) was more of a tactical decision. With that system I thought we needed two scrappers in the middle of the park. As for Griezmann, I’m managing him. Neither he nor Pogba is happy. Often players who come off the bench can make the difference. That was the case in the opening match and again tonight,” he said.

Meanwhile, Man of the Match, Dimitri Payet, recognizing his efforts, said the late goals have shown how patient the team is in winning games.

“Once again I made the difference and I’ve known for a while that my island (reunion) is right behind me and there is fervent support for Les Bleus. They’re very proud that France have made it through to the last 16.

“What’s great is that the late goals are nothing new. Since March, when we played the Netherlands, we’ve shown that we can go out and win games late on. We had to be patient”, the midfielder said.

Late goals from substitute, Antonio Griezmann and Man of the Match, Dimitri Payet, against Albania secured France qualification into the second round of the Euro 2016.

Ranieri, Kane Win Premier League Awards For March

Premier LeagueHarry Kane and Claudio Ranieri have won the March Barclays Premier League awards for Player and Manager of the Month respectively.

Ranieri guided Leicester City to a draw and three 1-0 wins over Watford, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, to maintain their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League.

He was voted for the award ahead of a managerial shortlist that featured AFC Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe (W3 L1), West Ham’s Slaven Bilic (W2 D1) and Swansea City’s Francesco Guidolin (W3 L1).

It is the fourth time Ranieri has claimed the Barclays manager award, the joint-most for an Italian alongside former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ranieri is the 15th manager to have won the award four times.

Ranieri won the award in November this season and also was awarded it twice during the 2003/04 campaign when with Chelsea.

No Leicester manager has won the award more than once in one season, although Martin O’Neill claimed it three times in a three-year period from September 1997.

Ranieri has the chance to join Joe Kinnear (1993/94 with Wimbledon) and Sir Alex Ferguson (1999/00 with Manchester United) and Ancelotti (2010/11) to have won the award three times in one season. That feat is also possible for Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who was named manager of the month in August and February.

Five goals in four matches won the Barclays Player of the Month award for Kane, a tally that has taken him to the top of the race for the Barclays Golden Boot with 22 goals so far.

He beat a shortlist that also included Southampton’s Graziano Pelle, Swansea City’s Ashley Williams, Leicester duo Wes Morgan and Riyad Mahrez, and West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet.

It is the third time Kane has claimed the award, after winning it in January and February last year.
