The Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested a young man, Samson Tella, for stabbing his friend, Abiodun Abdulkareem, to death on Tuesday
at Iyesi Otta, in Ado-Odo, Otta Local Government of Ogun State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, operatives attached to Onipanu Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested the suspect after a friend reported the incident to the police
The suspect and the deceased were said to have engaged in a hot argument, before the suspect stabbed his friend with a bottle on his neck.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, has ordered thorough investigation into the incident, as he directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran Abeokuta, to take up the matter immediately.
The Ogun State Police Command says its operatives attached to Sagamu Division intercepted a truck loaded with vandalised Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Sagamu area of the state.
This is barely four days after a 33,000-litre truck loaded with stolen petrol was intercepted in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to a press statement by the spokesman for the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police operatives acted on a tip-off which led to the arrest of one of the vandals named Elochukwu Byron. He said other suspects escaped.
The suspect and the exhibits, according to Mr Adejobi, would be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, in Eleweran Abeokuta, for further investigation on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali.
Mr Ali has also put all officers and men of the command on their toes to make sure that pipelines and installations are adequately protected, particularly during a period of fuel crisis like the one being witnessed across Nigeria.
He warned that many of the hoodlums would want to seize the opportunity to perpetrate their criminal act of economic sabotage.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly killed his wife by stabbing her to death.
The suspect, Gbenga Ogunfolabo, 47 years, who lives in Ishara, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State stabbed his wife, one Bosede Ogunfolabo, 45 years, to death with a broken bottle during a fight between the suspect and his deceased wife.
It was gathered that the husband, who is a farmer, had been maltreating the deceased, a petty trader, before he eventually stabbed her to death.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the matter should be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta for discreet investigation.
The Commissioner has also advised the general public to always furnish the Police with useful information to nip crime in the bud.
He assured the general public of the command’s commitment in making sure that every case reported to the Police is adequately investigated with a view to restore lost confidence and trust in the minds of the public.
