JTF Discovers Illegal Refinery In Kogi Forest

An illegal refinery has been discovered in Kogi state along Okene and Auchi road by the members of Joint Security Task Force combining the military and the  National Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC).

The acting commandant of the NSCDC who disclosed this said seven persons have been arrested in connection with the illegal refinery .

The illegal refinery site which has been in operation for the past two years was found in a forest located just about 6km to a village called Ema.

While speaking to journalists at the site the Acting Commander of the NSCDC in Kogi state noted that it is one of the first illegal refineries discovered in the area which will be destroyed.

He also confirmed that seven suspects in connection to the illegal act have been arrested and investigation will commence immediately.

The task force commander, Lt. Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi while speaking at the site of the crime said it was a joint operation, noting that the force is still trailing others involved in the illegal refinery business..

However, one of the suspects who spoke gave a different story line, stating that he knows nothing about the business that he was initiated to it by someone who borrowed money from him.



Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber walk away with three awards at the MTV EMA

Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber had a tie with three awards at the just concluded MTV EMA which held in Frankfurt.

American country singer Swift, who left the Country Music Association awards empty-handed less than two weeks ago, picked up honours for Best Female, Best Live and Best Look.

“Drei? Drei? I can’t believe you gave me three awards,” Swift, who was nominated in five categories, told the boisterous crowd of 7,000, trying out her best German.

One of the night’s most popular performers was South Korean dance sensation Psy with his record-breaking hit “Gangnam Style”, which won Best Video.
Skipping through the venue and on to the main stage in a sparkly blue jacket with his horse riding-inspired dance, he became the first South Korean artist to perform at the annual awards.

“This is beautiful. This is my very first time to participate, perform, be nominated, as an Asian artist, as a Korean artist, so I don’t know what to say,” he told journalists backstage.

Canadian teen heartthrob Bieber matched Swift’s tally, claiming Best Male for the second year in a row as well as Best Pop and Best World Stage.

Before the show began, performers on the red carpet included rapper Ludacris, who debuted his new video “Rest of My Life”.

“The fans are ecstatic right now. Hopefully we’ll be back at the EMAs next year performing this track,” Ludacris told journalists amid the din of screaming fans.

Stars like the Jonas Brothers, who received one of the biggest cheers from fans on the carpet, and Kim Kardashian said they were looking forward to Thanksgiving dinners.

“There’s always a lot of food, but we’re still figuring out how to get all of us together,” said Kim.

D’banj battles Wizkid for MTV EMA Awards

Its the 19th edition of the MTV EMA Awards, an event that celebrates the biggest musical artists from around the globe.
The event will take place at Frankfurt Historic Festhalle on November 11 in Germany.

Africa’s hottest contemporary artists are also in the frame for an EMA award, as Sarkodie, Camp Mulla, Wizkid, Mi Casa and D’Banj fight it out for a slot in the Worldwide Act category, where they will compete against their peers in India and the Middle East (from Monday 15 October).

The final Worldwide Act nominees from each region (Europe, Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and Africa/India/Middle East) will be announced in the last week of October.

Pop princesses Rihanna and Taylor Swift are topping the list with six and five nods each, respectively.

Justin Bieber and Katy Perry each have four EMA nominations, followed by a roll call of buzzworthy acts, including Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Lana Del Rey and newcomers Carly Rae Jepsen and fun earning three nominations each.

Rihanna and Taylor Swift will both compete for the Best Female and Best Pop titles. Rihanna is also up for Best Song and Best Video for her smash hit “We Found Love” and “Biggest Fans”, while Swift received nods for Best Live and Best World Stage.

Other notable EMA nominees include Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen, fun., Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Jay Z and Kanye West, who are each up for three EMA nominations, while Green Day, Gotye, Pitbull, Rita Ora, Flo Rida, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Jack White and One Direction are up for two awards.

MTV will announce EMA performers and presenters at a later date.
