FCT Police Assure Residents of Crime Free Yule Tide Celebrations

The FCT Police command has assured residents of the city of their safety during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Commissioner of Police for F.C.T, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who said that despite various attacks on its men and some of its facilities within and outside the nation’s capital, members of the police force are resolute in ensuring that no life is lost during or after the festive period.

He disclosed that several suspects have been arrested between January and December 2012 as part of its efforts to ensure that residents of the city go about their normal lives without fear or intimidation.

The police boss however solicited the support of Nigerians in providing useful information that will aid in the arrest of criminally minded people.

FCT police arrest 80 suspects, recover 60 cars in four months

The FCT Police Command today (Tuesday) gave an account of its stewardship in the second quarter of 2012.

Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Adenrele Shinaba said over 60 stolen vehicles have been recovered between April and July, 2012.

Mr. Shinaba said the command deployed officers to strategic junctions within the Federal Capital Territory to conduct a stop-and-search on vehicles.

He added that patrol vehicles are always on ground at strategic locations.

Shinaba also paraded suspects arrested by the Command for crimes ranging from car snatching, unlawful possession of arms, kidnapping, vandalism and armed robbery.

The command also recovered arms and ammunition as well as dangerous weapons from the suspects.

He promised that the command will not relent in its effort to rid the nation’s capital of crime and criminality.

The command says it is ever ready to secure the nation’s capital from crimes and promised prompt action for all distress calls.
