Analyst wants Economic Summit Group to develop competitive strategy

A public affairs analyst and lecturer at the Pan African University, Austin Nweze on Tuesday said the National Economic Summit Group (NESG) is yet to develop a clear competitive strategy that will make Nigeria one of the top economies in the world.

Mr Nweze, who was a guest on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, said since Nigeria’s economy dominates others in West Africa, the country needs to develop a strategy that will show this dominance.

“I want them to come out of this Summit with a clear strategy that two three areas where Nigeria can compete,” he said.

He reacted saying it is a great initiative by the Jonathan administration but the fundamentals are being looked into properly and that is where he has issues with concerning the initiative from his own judgement.

Bayo Rotimi a market analyst commented on the probe when asked what went wrong with the running of the capital market  leading to the capital market probe said the former CBN Governor Soludo was right with his analysis of the capital market that the capital market will crash again because markets all over the world experience such too.

He said markets crash not because of institutional deficiencies but due to the forces of demand and supply.
