“It’s in the works. If I’m featuring anybody or not, I am not ready to say yet, but, definitely there are surprises on the album’.

He described the album as ‘a piece of a mind’ as he tells different stories about his life experiences as well as the stories of other people.

“I’ve been working round the clock to make sure it’s an amazing one”, he said, adding that Pheelz, Oscar and Seyi Keys are some of the producers working on the album.

According to him, the album will be one big ‘gist’, an avenue for him to tell stories he didn’t get a chance to tell. “I’m just to gist about everything”, he said.

His unique sound, a rhythmic story-telling delivery have seen him win top awards – All Africa Music Awards, Headies – within a short time of making his entry into the industry.

With the release of ‘Ready’, a song in which he professes his readiness to be in love, the YBNL star is, perhaps, telling the world that his debut album is READY.

Sound Sultan Did Not Write ‘Sho Le’ For Me, Sean Tizzle Insists

Nigerian pop artiste, Sean Tizzle has insisted that veteran Hiphop musician and producer, Sound Sultan cannot take the credit for writing his debut hit single, ‘Sho Le’.

The young man who studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan was the guest of Rubbin’ Minds on Channels Television on Sunday.

Discussion started with Tizzle having to define his brand of music and he explained that although he started out as an R&B act, making music that sells has become the most important factor to him as a musician.

He insisted that mixing different genres of music in his recordings has worked very well in his favour and it did not matter if fans cannot identify him with a particular genre as long as he makes music that is appreciated by those fans.

He also acknowledged the growth of the industry, especially with the advent of international shows, adding that he was willing to work with any Nigerian musician.

Tizzle admitted that he indeed used to work with Sound Sultan and the older act made technical contributions to his popular debut hit “Sho le” since he started recording the song while still signed to the record label, Naija Ninjas. He however insisted that Sound Sultan did not write the song, contrary to allegations by the older act.

He also spoke about the allegation of breach of contract levelled against him by the label, which he did not deny. He revealed that they had resolved all the issues, with him having to “settle him somehow”.

Tizzle’s rapid success was further validated as he won the Next Rated awards at the Headies – Nigeria biggest music awards, beating the likes of Burna Boy and Sheyi Shay to clinch the ownership of a brand new car that came with the victory.

There had been rumours that one of the contenders, Burna Boy, stormed out of the award venue, but Sean Tizzle debunked the rumour, claiming that he discussed the allegations with Burna Boy who explained that he left after the announcement of their category since he had been due to leave the venue earlier but was only waiting for that part of the night to be over.

He, however, said that his victory at the awards was not about him but about God and the fact that he has a good team to work with. He also revealed that his album would be released in April 2014. He boasted that the album would be too exciting for any track to be skipped.

Sean Tizzle also spoke about his attraction to Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah. Having declared his feelings on a major Ghanaian radio a week before, he believed that she would get to know about his feeling and perhaps “Jackie Tizzle” may become more real than it did when Sean said it during the interview.

Femi Kuti to perform at the Headies 2012

Afro beat singer and one of Africa’s greatest music exports, Femi Kuti, is set to perform at Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, The Headies, scheduled for October 20, 2012 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This is the first time an Afrobeat musician will be performing at the Headies.

The Headies, also known as Hip Hop World Awards, is fast becoming a blend of generational genres of music.

The Afrobeat legend and Grammy nominee, Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti, popularly known as Femi Kuti, began his international career in 1988 when he was invited by the French Cultural Centre in Lagos and Christian Mousset to perform at the Festival d’Angoulême (France), the New Morning Club in Paris and the Moers Festival in Germany.

Femi Kuti, in the course of his music career, has shown strong commitment to social and political causes. In 2001, Femi collaborated on his album Fight to Win with a number of U.S. musicians, including Common, Mos Def, and Jaguar Wright. He created his own band, Positive Force in the late 1980s with Dele Sosimi (Gbedu Resurrection), former key-board player of Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

According to Femi, “My career is not based on awards. I sincerely mean what I sing about. My music is truly fighting for electricity, good healthcare service, good roads, equal education for my people and African unity. It’s neither a love song, nor commercial and it still gets headlines and good reviews. I’m especially touched when young people appreciate what I am doing,”

This will be the first time Femi Kuti will be honoured on Nigerian soil as he will be inducted into The Headies Hall Of Fame. The Afrobeat legend says “It’s a kind of privilege, its good. I mean I would drink a bottle of champagne when I get it, we will celebrate here.”

Ayo Animashaun, executive producer of The Headies is extremely excited over this year’s line-up of artistes. “Every year, our target is to surpass our very best efforts. With notable artistes such as Femi Kuti and many more gracing The Headies this year, our fans should expect to watch the most exciting awards ceremony to be held in recent times.”

The full list of artistes scheduled to perform at the award ceremony will be announced in due course by the organizers.

Other Hall Of Fame Inductees includes Dayo D1 Adeneye, Kenny Ogungbe, Phillip Trimmel, Olisa Adibua, Obi Asika, Femi Akintunde Johnson, Sir Shina Peters and DJ Jimmy Jatt.

Headies 2012: Chuddy K taken off ‘Next Rated’ category

The organizers of the Headies awards has announced that talented rising artiste, Chuddy K has been taken off the nominees list for the “Next Rated” category.

The organizers took the decision because Chuddy K had previously released an album titled “I Am Me” in 2010 and the major requirement for nominees is that s/he must be unreleased artistes as at nomination period.

Judges of the prestigious annual music awards have now taken Chuddy K off the Next Rated category and have now replaced him with talented rapper, Flowssick.

Following the rules of the “Next Rated category over the years, this category for the awards is for the most promising upcoming officially unreleased act in the year under review. The prize for this category also comes with a brand new car courtesy The Headies. Past winners of this category include Wande Coal, Asa, Skuki, Overdose, Omawumi and Wizkid

The Next Rated Category nominees are now DavidO, Eva Alordiah, Praiz and Flowssick.
