Some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called for the cancellation of the just concluded local government congress held in Imo West Senatorial District and some other parts of the state.
Briefing newsmen in Owerri the Imo State capital, the aggrieved members said that they would boycott the forthcoming state congress in the state if the local government congress in Imo West is not cancelled.
They described the congress in the area as a total sham where some group of people decided to scuttle the entire process and impose candidates on the people.
They added that it is totally unacceptable and an aberration to democracy in the country.
The group called on the National Chairman of the Party, Mr Ali-Modu Sheriff, to intervene in order to save the face and integrity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Controversies have continued to trail the emergence of the Deputy Speaker of Federal House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, as the winner of the PDP Governorship primaries in Imo State.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri the Imo State capital, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, who was said to have come second with 336 votes, said that there are errors in the computation of the results.
He claimed that he was short changed while Honourable Emeka Ihedioha was awarded figures he never earned.
In a statement by the DG of his campaign organization, Independence Ogunnewe, he said that following the statistical analysis of the results, Emeka Ihedioha actually scored 325 votes but the figure was inflated with 21 votes, while his (Ararume) 336 votes is actually the right figure.
He called on the leadership of the party in the state and the Chairman of the Imo PDP Governorship Primaries Electoral Committee to, as a matter of urgency, address the matter and declare him winner.
