Suspected Herdsmen Kill Six In Another Kaduna Attack

herdsmen, kaduna killings, Godogodo villageGunmen suspected to be herdsmen have again attacked Godogodo village in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least six persons.

The latest attack comes barely two weeks after unidentified gunmen killed 11 people and burnt down houses in three villages within the same local government.

An eyewitness said the gunmen stormed the village and told the villagers that their land has been earmarked for grazing and ordered them to vacate the area.

The farmers resisting their order, the gunmen opened fire on them and killed six people on the spot.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Usman, who confirmed the incident, said that some people have been arrested in connection with the attack.

He added that more policemen have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.

However, the Chairman of Kaduna State Chapter of Miyetti Allah, Haruna Usman, described the killing as an act of vengeance.

He said that the suspected herdsmen might have stormed the village to revenge the death of one of their leaders who was killed in one of the villages sometime ago.

Police Arrest Rapists, Vandals In Kaduna

Vandals-Arrested-in-KadunaThe Kaduna State Police Command has arrested nine suspects for stealing heavy duty generators and raping two girls. 

Parading the suspects before reporters at the command headquarters, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Zubairo Abubakar, said five of them were arrested for gang raping two girls, while four others were apprehended for stealing different types of  heavy duty generators used by GSM service providers to power their transmission masts.

He said the suspects were arrested by the command’s Special Anti- Vandalism Squad while they were smuggling the stolen items to Kano State in a J5 bus.

The  suspected vandals, who operate between Zamfara, Kebbi and Kaduna States, usually hide their  stolen generators inside the bus and cover them with bags of saw dusts used in cooking before taking the items  where they will dispose them. They were intercepted by the Police following a tip off.

Police said that rape cases involving minors are increasing by the day in Kaduna State.

Two weeks ago, a 70 year old man was also arrested by the Police for  allegedly raping two underage girls.

The command is worried over the re-occurence, and  warned parents to be conscious of their children’s whereabouts and activities.
