Insecurity: Senate President Lawan Proposes National Summit

President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan is proposing a national security summit to address the security situation in the country.

Senator Lawan’s proposition forms part of his contribution to a motion raised by Senator Ayo Akinyelure on the murder of Mrs Funke Olakurin, daughter of the Afenifere leader.

Senator Lawan believes it’s the duty of the Senate to organise the security summit to proffer lasting solutions to the incessant killings across the country.

A minute of silence was held for her and other Nigerians who lost their lives under same circumstances.

Senate President Lawan Hails Kyari, Boss Mustapha’s Re-appointment

 The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, hailed the re-appointment of Chief of Staff  Abba Kyari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lawan, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isa said the re-appointment was a confirmation of the confidence and trust the President reposed in them.

He said, “the re-appointments of Mallam Kyari and the SGF by the President is an appreciation of their commitments and contributions to the President’s successes in the last four years.

“As key figures of this administration, the roles played by the Chief of Staff and the SGF in achieving the successes recorded so far by President Buhari cannot be over-emphasised”.

The Senate President urged the Chief of Staff and the SGF to use their renewed mandate to redouble their commitment, and deploy their wealth of experiences to assist the President in achieving his next level agenda.

 

Lawan Withdraws Appointment Of Festus Adebayo As Special Adviser

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has withdrawn the appointment of Festus Adedayo, as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isa.

“The office of the President of the Senate has reviewed the appointment of Mr Festus Adedayo as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate and decided to rescind its decision on the appointment, and wishes Mr Adebayo the best in his future endeavours”.
