Ooni Reveres Jesus Christ, Says His Forgiving Spirit Must Be Coveted

Adeyeye-Ogunwusi-Ooni-of-IfeThe Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) has described Jesus Christ as the Lord of Peace and Love with an unparalleled forgiving spirit that the world must covet for absolute peace.

He believes Christ should always be remembered and honoured with the existence of love and peace by the Christians, saying it is the only way harmonious co-existence can be achieved not only within the ranks of his followers but also among the members of the larger global society for whom Jesus lived and died over 2,000 years ago.

Ooni Ogunwusi made the admonition on Saturday in his Christmas message through a press statement by his spokesman, Comrade Moses Olafare.

He stressed that the people of the world must see themselves as one before God Almighty and must treat one another with forgiveness, peace and love, as symbolised by Jesus Christ if the world must be a conducive place for everyone to survive.

“There is no greater gift and honour you can give to Jesus Christ other than exhibition of forgiving spirit, display of love and ensuring of absolute peace because these are what the lord Jesus symbolises.

“We all must see ourselves as equal before the almighty God who purposefully created us with different cultural backgrounds.

“The surest way of achieving the much needed global harmony is when we always imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and extend hand of love and peace to one another. With this, Jesus Christ will be happy in heaven, God will always smile to us and of course the world will become a better place for all of us to dwell happily,” he said.

The African foremost monarch while wishing all the Christians in Nigeria and across the globe a merry Christmas, also urged religious leaders to always lead by example by not just preaching like Jesus Christ but always acting like Him if their followers should take them seriously.

Oshiomhole Preaches Peace, Love At Easter

OshiomholeGovernor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has urged Christian faithful to imbibe the virtues of peace, love, sacrifice and forgiveness which are the lessons of Easter.

In his Easter message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria, the Governor urged Christian faithful in Edo State and Nigeria to imbibe the core values of Christianity and the lessons of the season which are sacrifice, love, sharing and forgiveness of sins.

“We should remember that the progenitor of the Christian faith is also known as the ‘Prince of Peace’ and we should, therefore, embrace peace with all men and maintain the peace which we have enjoyed in the state in the past years.

“As we celebrate, we should not forget to extend a hand of fellowship to the less-privileged among us, as Christ taught us to ‘love our neighbours as ourselves.’

“This season offers me another opportunity to offer my deep appreciation to the good people Edo State for their confidence in, and support for this government in the past seven years which has culminated in the high level of success recorded in our efforts to rebuild the dilapidated structures and infrastructure which we met on ground in 2008.

“Our modest achievements have been due, largely, to the prayers and support of the faithful, and I urge you, in my last Easter message to you as Governor of Edo State, to extend the same level of support to my successor who will continue from where we stop and build on the solid structures we have put in place.

“I extend my appreciation to the Muslim faithful and people of other faith in the state for the love they have generously showered on me and the prevailing peace in the state, and I appeal to them to continue to maintain this peace now and beyond the life of this administration.

“As we celebrate, I pray that the joy of Easter encompasses you as we renew our strength to build the Edo of our dreams,” he said.

APC’s Osinbajo Harps On Fair And Just Governance

osinbajoThe Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has stressed the need for everyone saddled with the leadership of any people to strive to provide fair and just governance.

Professor Osinbajo was speaking on Wednesday on the topic ‘Harmonising Virtues to Gain Heaven and Earthly Prosperity’ at the 73rd birthday lecture series of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye held in Lagos.

The APC’s Vice Presidential candidate was the guest speaker for the day.

He is one of the top pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and now the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC. In his speech, he urged believers to show love to their enemies and care for the vulnerable.

‘Sacrifice Of Personal Ambitions’

Professor Osinbajo emphasised that every nation had its challenges but also has the enormous capacity to subdue them.

“Serving others is sacrifice of personal ambitions for the good of others. The sacrifice of personal ambitions is crucial and a way of greatness,” the pastor said.

The RCCG Pastor also told the gathering that they had the power to question government activities, stressing that those in power were elected by the people to serve.

“We have been placed in positions of greater significance. If we choose to, we have the power to influence government; to say to the government, why do we not have free healthcare for the poor ? Why do we not have free education?  Why are you not providing for the elderly who are poor and for the people with disability who are poor?’’

The Professor also emphasised the need to have integrity, explaining that without it, there was no way believers could show leadership and attain significance.

He also added that “one of the big problems that we have in our nation today is an absence of integrity. It underlines every single failure of government”.

Pastor Adeboye while addressing the gathering pleaded with everyone to yield to Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The lecture lasted for an hour.
