The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has extended by four weeks the ultimatum it earlier issued to the Federal Government to review the irregularities in the remuneration of her members occasioned by the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
President of the Association, Doctor Osahon Enabulele who presented the communique of the association at a news conference in Abuja says the National Executive Council of the Association, at an emergency meeting resolved to extend the ultimatum.
The association expressed dismay over what it describes as untold hardship brought to bear on medical professionals and their dependants on account of the non-payment of several months of earned wages due to the problems inherent in the current Integrated payroll System.
It will be recalled that the Association had called on the Federal Government during a news conference held August 25th,that the irregularities in the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) be corrected and this was the resolution of the National Executive Council of the association after a meeting held in Sokoto.
They however asked the Federal Government to resolve the payroll crisis within the next 21 days or discontinue its use for the payment of salaries of doctors.
