JAMB Warns Against Fake Application Forms In CirculationThe Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has warned members of the general public about the activities of fraudsters illegally selling fake JAMB forms to unsuspecting applicants.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof Isiaq Oloyede, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mr Olujide Adisa, gave the warning in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital during the parade of two suspects by the Ogun state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The JAMB boss said that the forms for the 2017 session were not out yet as the board was putting all machinery together to ensure a hitch-free admission process

The two middle-aged men were reportedly arrested in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital by the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at two locations.

They caught in the act of selling a form said to be fake to unsuspecting Joint Admission and Matriculation Board candidates.

Putting the records straight, the JAMB Director of Special Duties said that any form being sold currently by anybody is presumed to be   fake.

He asked prospective applicants to visit any of the state offices of the board across the country for any inquiry and save themselves from the antics of the fraudsters on the prow

NSCDC Arrests Suspect, Raises Alarm Over Kerosene AdulterationThe Nasarawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested one Muhammed Abdullahi for allegedly adulterating Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Lafia.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Aso Okereke, disclosed this in a statement made available to Channels Television in Lafia.

He said the suspect was arrested on January 11, 2017 at Bukan-Sidi area of Lafia metropolis while selling Kerosene mixed with large proportion of petrol (PMS) to unsuspecting members of the public.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect bought 87 litres of kerosene and adulterated it with 25 litres of petrol to increase the volume in order to make gain in view of the increase in price of kerosene.

He said the offence was punishable under section 17(b) unlawful dealing with petroleum products and adulteration of petroleum product as specified in section 18  of the Miscellaneous Offenses Act.

He cautioned members of the public to always buy kerosene and other petroleum products from approved vendors to avert dangerous consequences.

“The corps is concerned about the disastrous effect of the suspect’s action to the safety of citizen considering the numerous cases of explosion recorded in other parts of the country,” the statement read.

He said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded on the matter.

Civil Defense Corps Honours Five Officers In BayelsaThe Bayelsa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has honoured five of its officers who performed their duties creditably in 2016.

Speaking at the ceremony at the headquarters of the Command in Yenagoa, the state, the Commandant, Mr Desmond Agu, said that the officers were being recognised and honoured for their resilience and dedication to duty during the year under review”.

Agu attributed the success of the command in the out gone year to the loyalty, commitment and hard work of men of the command.

Those honoured are Mr George Washington, Mrs Becky Ayinka, Mr Brown Akpama, Mr Elliot Manasu and Mr Eniye Ali.

He continued his speech by saying that “the NSCDC is one of the agencies at the forefront of protecting the critical national assets”.

“This command has been able to tackle the menace of illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other forms of criminal activities within its operational area due to dedication and uprightness of the officers in this command,” he said.

Agu, who described the award ceremony as an annual ritual, said the event was organized to spur up excellent performance amongst officers and men of the command.

He also warned pipeline vandals, illegal oil thieves and other criminals to desist from their illicit activities in the state.

In a goodwill message, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa on Security Matters, Chief Spero Jack, who chaired the occasion, described the NSCDC as a blessing to Bayelsa and Nigeria.

He commended the corps for going after vandals and creating safety for the people, adding that, “your personnel have paid the supreme price for the national interest”.

The recipients of the award were presented with generators, household appliances and cash gifts.

Police Boss Seeks More Collaboration With Nigerians

Ibrahim Idris, Police, CriminalsThe Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibarahim Idris, has reiterated the need for Nigerians to support security agencies, as they vehemently pursue their responsibility of tackling all crimes.

He said that the police would achieve more with the right approach, equipment and collaborative efforts of Nigerians.

Mr Idris gave the assurance on Thursday in Minna while inaugurating the Niger State ‘Eminent People’s Forum’ (EPF), as directed to all the 36 Commissioners of Police in the country.

He said that the forum would foster partnership with the Police in crime prevention and control.

It will also help in ensuring that there is peace and security in the various communities, the police boss stressed.

According to him, the forum would help to bridge the gap between the public and the police in Nigeria.

Represented by the Assistant Inspector General AIG, Zone 7, Alikali Usman, who stated that the NPF would be guided by international core values of policing with integrity, and compliance with the principles of democratic policing and rule of law.

He noted that the present AG inherited a daunting task of restoring civil authority to the northeast, cattle rustling in the north-central, kidnapping among others in the south-south and south-east, which are also facing the problems of economic sabotage (militancy) and kidnapping which are, according to him , surmountable.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, also said that the inauguration was in compliance with the IG’s directive so as to partner with the eminent people in the communities to ensure security of lives and property in the state.

Mr Muazu disclosed that the partnership would go a long way in enhancing the safety of people and sustaining peace in Nigeria.

He urged every criminals in the state to leave or face arrest and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police has established a Joint Operation Centre at the State Police Headquarters, comprising all uniform security outfits to have a synergy in operations for better results during their operation, hence it will go a long way for smooth operations as resources would be pulled together.

The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, who was represented by his Special Adviser, General Imam Ibrahim, urged residents of different communities to immediately report strange movements to security agencies in their areas.

At the event attended by eminent people in Niger State which includes traditional rulers, retired security men, community leaders and politicians the need for better welfare packages, adequate funding and insurance cover for the police officers was emphasised.

Osun NSCDC Takes Control Of Chaos At Filling Stations

Civil Defence The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has agreed to monitor all activities at the filling stations to ensure decorum and order.

This came as Nigerians continue to lament the hardship faced at most filling stations who sell at the control price.

While most filling stations do not have fuel, those who have the product have cars trickling in one after the other as the fuel is still sold between 160 a‎nd 200 Naira.

However, the NNPC mega station along the Ring Road West Bye-Pass in Osogbo the state capital was besieged by motorists and cyclists all scrambling to ensure they get petrol‎ but for the intervention of the State Commandant of the Civil Defence.

With calm restored, the Osun State Commandant, Ayodele Phillips, told Channels Television that the Civil Defence would collaborate with the Police to restore order and sanity to the petrol stations in order to ensure that all those on the long queue are attended to.

On the allegations that some security agents were disrupting orderliness in the fuel selling process, the NSCDC Commandant said that security agents must learn to focus on their constitutional duties despite pressing issues around them.

In the meantime, Nigerians have continued to urge the Federal Government to intensify efforts and ensure that petrol supply flows across all states as promised.

Suicide Bomber Hits Gombi LGA, Adamawa

adamawaThere has been a bomb blast at Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Two male suicide bombers, one dressed as a female, carried out the attack on a market in Gombi town.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that seven people were killed with many injured but this is yet to be officially confirmed.

The attackers set off the explosive devices as some vigilantes attempted to stop them.

Gombi had been captured by insurgents in 2014 but was recaptured by the Nigerian military.

Gov. Okorocha To Build School For Adamawa IDPs

OkorochaSuccour is coming from various directions for the Internally Displaced Persons in Adamawa State.

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was in Adamawa to inspect the plot of land allocated to him by the State Government to build a secondary school for the internally displaced children.

“This is a clarion call to all Nigerians now to think about the displaced persons in our society and those who are disadvantaged from going to school.

“Most great men of the world are people from poor homes and nations that have neglected their poor ones are nations not willing to grow because there are more wisdom in the families that do not have than the families that have plenty.

“Let us not forget these poor ones because we do not know who is going to find solution to HIV, the hunger in the world or who is going to redeem Africa,” he said.

While Governor Okorocha plans to build a school for the children and the less privileged in the state, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has also donated drugs to the IDPs in Yola.

The agency’s representative explained that they were aware of the possibility of health challenges setting in at the camps and felt that it was important to make such precautionary move.

Both governors of Imo and Adamawa have asked other Nigerians to assist in rebuilding the state.

According to the Internally Displaced Monitoring Centre, Nigeria has the highest number of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa, totaling about 3.3 million.

Over 2.3 million have been displaced in the northeast, including over 1.4 million children.

NSCDC In Kogi Parades Petroleum Vandals

NSCDC pipeline arrestKogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has paraded two suspects who are involved in petroleum pipeline vandalism.

The two suspects; Micheal Urom and Obi Kelechi, were said to have been arrested in a forest in Geba with two loaded tankers filled with substance suspected to be crude oil at about 2am.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Adesuyi Dayo, who paraded them at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Lokoja, told newsmen that the suspects were caught at the scene of crime, but on sighting his men some of them took to their heels while the two paraded were arrested.

One of the  suspects, 27 year old Micheal Urom, who hails from Ebonyi State, said that he was a former staff of Dangote before he was laid off his job, and he was in search of another job when he got this one.

Mr Adesuyi Dayo said that vandalism of petroleum pipeline and oil theft remained a major destruction to the country’s economy which needs to be tackled, calling on Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in fighting the menace.

While also warning those involved in petroleum pipeline vandalism in the state to desist from the act, he vowed that as the new head of the Kogi Command of the NSCDC, he would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that the state is rid of the crime.

Having promised that the suspects would be prosecuted according to the law, he called on people in the state to give useful information to his command which would help in tracking down more of those involved in the illicit act.

NSCDC Seeks Collaboration To Curb Insecurity In Nigeria

ben 2The Cross River State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr Benito Eze has said that security agencies will hand over victory to terrorists carrying out series of attacks in the northeast.

At a Security Summit organised for officers of the command as well as representatives various security agencies and members of the public, Dr Eze said that despite the incessant attacks by suspected member of the Boko Haram terrorist group, security agents would continue to evolve new strategies to checkmate their activities until the issue of terrorism was completely a thing of the past in Nigeria.

The NSCDC senior official explained that the summit was meant to seek a way forward in the counter-terrorism operation in Nigeria by the state command of NSCDC.

According to him, Insecurity is a global menace that requires intelligence and information gathering against the attackers.

He also advocated for a strong collaboration among the various security agencies and members of the public for an efficient and effective security service delivery which is part of why the summit was held.

The State Security Adviser to the Cross River State government, Rekpene Bassey, enjoined the summit to review tactical and operational strategies of field workers who are at the thick of the security situation in order to come out with operational guide.

 

Boko Haram Threatens To Attack U.S In New Video

A new video allegedly released by the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau and obtained by journalists today (Thursday) in Maiduguri the Borno state capital has threatened to attack the United States for her desire to join forces with Nigeria to fight terrorism and insurgency.

The United States had in November classified Boko Haram as a terrorist organization that have links with international terrorist group, Al-Qaeda.

Boko Haram in the video, vowed to take its violent campaigns to the U.S for her pledge to partner with Nigeria to fight terrorism.

“After that you said so many things. By Allah, you are lying. Were you truthful, oh America, you would have been truthful inside your country, you bloody liar. May Allah’s curse be on you,” the man believed to be Shekau, said in the video.

“This message is intended as a glad tiding. Allah the Almighty has given us victory in the attack we launched inside Maiduguri on the 2nd of this month.

“We stormed the city and fought them (and) Allah blessed us with lots of booty.

“They call us Boko Haram but we are not Boko Haram. We are Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad whose leader is Abubakar Ash-shakawy, who in the past committed a lot of infractions but when he followed the Quran and the prophet’s teachings, today even Obama fears him, Francois Hollande fears him, Benjamin Netanyahu fears him, the whole world fears him. Why? Because he holds on to Allah the Almighty.

“You are boasting you are going to join forces with Nigeria to crush us, bloody liars. You couldn’t crush us when we were carrying sticks, is it today when we storm your barracks and commandeer your things one after the other, killed you in numbers that you are going to crush us? The man believed to be Shekau continued saying in the video.

“Where were you when your World Trade Centre was bombed, including your Pentagon when you were faced on your turf?

“Liars! May Allah protect us. This is a message from this small destitute who has become a nightmare to infidels” said Shekau who made the speech on the victory they achieved in Maiduguri.

The message vowed to continue with the attack not just in Maiduguri but the whole world and reminded those who care to listen to repent and turn to Allah.

“By Allah we will never stop. Don’t think we will stop in Maiduguri, tomorrow you will see us in America itself. Our operation is not confined to Nigeria; it is for the whole world.

Nigeria Is At War, Government Ill-Prepared To Fight – Falana

Right activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana on Monday said the presence situation in the country is nothing short of a full blown war.

Mr Falana, who was a guest on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, said a situation where a clash between terrorists and security operatives led to the death of over 187 people; where unknown cultist ambush and slaughter over 40 police officers; and where a Supreme Court Judge is presently looking for his wife, child and driver can be nothing short of war.

“There is a war everywhere; that is why as Nigerians, we cannot afford to leave the Federal Government to fight this war; they cannot,” he said.
Mr Falana said though the country is facing a huge war it is ill-prepared to fight.

“These boys have more sophisticated weapon than our armed forces,” he said.

The lawyer said the Federal Government is playing politics with the fight against terrorism by not providing the police with adequate equipment to fight insurgents and criminals.

He said, “A lot of money was budget for security and defence this year, what has happened to the fund if by the middle of May you haven’t passed the budget? It is tantamount to shedding crocodile tears if we simply express regret anytime policemen or soldiers are killed when we didn’t armed them, when we didn’t sufficiently equip them.

“How many of our soldiers and policemen have learnt anything about counter-terrorism? It is a new terrain. How many of them are trained to fight or participate in guerrilla warfare because that is what is going on.

“Are we saying we are so poor that we cannot acquire helicopters to conduct aerial surveillance on a daily basis in these areas?

“Do you know that the policemen and most of the soldiers sent to combat these boys have no bullet proof? It is that bad. You just simply give them Ak47.”

Starting with the clash between security operatives and suspected members of the Boko Haram sect in Baga, Borno State where over 187 people were killed to the killing of over 20 police officers by cult members in Nasarawa state.
