Wizkid Bags Artist Of The Year Award

Wizkid, artist of the yearStarboy singer, Wizkid, has added another feather to his cap as he wins ‘Artiste of the Year’ for a second time in 2016.

He was nominated along-side Tekno, Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, Tiwa Savage, among others, at the AFRIMA 3.0 concert held on November 6, 2016 at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Although he was also nominated in the Best Male Act Western Africa, Song of the Year, and Best African Pop act categories, he lost to Flavour, Diamond Platnumz’s ‘Utanipenda’ and Diamond Platnumz again, respectively.

This comes shortly after he bagged the Best Artist Of The Year Award at the recently concluded MTV Africa Music Awards.

With his music gaining more international recognition, Wizkid has no doubt had a phenomenal career year.

Over the weekend, he was also awarded the Best African Act and Best Worldwide Act at the MTV EMA’s, while he was awarded the Best African Act at the 2016 MOBO Awards about a week ago.

AfroSoul Singer, Asa Talks About Her Life and Career

Asa, AfrosoulAfrosoul singer says her journey to international stardom in the music business has been an uncertain existence fuelled by good fortune.

In an interview with Entertainment News, the ‘One Who Never Comes’ crooner, admits to facing her fair share of challenges, and paying the price for her quest for fulfilment.

Despite the challenges, there are moments that compensate for the hard times. Asa, shares one of those touching moments.

About a decade after her debut album, titled after her, shot her to instant fame, Asa can say she has earned her spot in music.


In light of the unfortunate loss of entertainers in the music industry, Nomoreloss, Prince and Papa Wemba, Asa reminds all of the humanity of music icons and gives an insight into the struggles of successful artistes, who are in demand.

Living for the music, which she says is her religion, Asa is faced with the arduous task of connecting with her fans all over the world, from Istanbul to Belgium, France and Nigeria.

She revealed how she manages to refresh.

Born Bukola Elemide, in the early 80’s, Asa moved from her birthplace, Paris, France, to Lagos, Nigeria at the age of two, where she grew to become an artiste, influenced by music greats including Bob Marley, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Sade Adu, Onyeka Onwenu, Miriam Makeba and a host of others.

From her first album, Asa, a Cobhams Asuquo produced body of work which achieved critical acclaim in 2007, to ‘Bed Of Stones’, her 2015 album and several international tours in between, the singer’s songs evoke a myriad of emotions, from sombre meditation as experienced in ‘Bibanke’ to holy rage with ‘Satan Be Gone’.

IBK Spaceshipboi Drops New Single With BEZ, Stan Iyke

IBK has released a new single, ‘Sticks And Stones,’ off his forthcoming debut album entitled, ‘I Come In Peace.’

He featured the soulful BEZ  while sensational Stan Iyke gave a smash verse before the outro.

“The record is to get the ladies out on the streets and believe in themselves other than sell their bodies for cream,” IBK says.

Teezee Drops ‘High Roller’ Video

Afro pop singer, Teezee has dropped the video for the song entitled ‘High Roller,’ featuring DRB Lasgidi mate, Boj.

The song was produced by Canada based producer, Yinolu with the help of BOJ (BOTM) mixing Yoruba with street slangs that will have you singing ‘Farabale Farabale’.

The video was directed by Dalia Dias.

Creddy F Drops Video For ‘Scooby Scooby’

Upcoming rap artiste, Creddy F has released the video for his song titled, Scooby Scooby, which was initially released in 2012 and featured popular act, LKT (Alaye).

Crescent Patrick Nwanagu,  who is also known as Creddy F is now back with the video directed by one of Nigeria’s ace music video directors, Patrick Elis.

Patrick Ellis has directed several other music videos including Eva’s ‘Lights Out,’ Baba Dee’s ‘Gum Body,’ Tillaman’s ‘Ko Ma Roll’ to mention a few.

Skales Releases Music Video For ‘Take Care Of Me’

Empire Mates Entertainment is proud to present the official music video from Skales for “Take Care of Me”, the first single to be taken from his forthcoming debut Album All The Above which will be released in the first quarter of 2014.

The  new single was produced by renowned StarBoy Entertainment production duo Legendury Beatz,  the video was directed by film-maker Aje Filmworks.

The “Take Care Of Me” music video is filled with fresh visuals, showing  Skales as he tries to do all that is necessary to woo his pretty love’s interest, with E.M.E label mate ShayDee making a rather hilarious cameo appearance along the way.

Kenny K’ore Drops Video For ‘Halleluyah’ Song

Nigerian gospel artiste, Kenny Kore (former member of the gospel group, Infinity), has released a music video for his song titled, Halleluyah.

Born, Kehinde Akinbode, Kenny K’ore who wrote the popular gospel song, Olori Oko, which brought his former group into limelight, left the group to pursue a solo career and ministry.

The music video which was shot at the beach front has cameos from comedian, Omo Baba No. 1, Acapella group, In His Image.

The video was also directed by award winning director, Gbenga Salu.

Musician and former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Munachi Abii is no doubt a very beautiful and talented young lady who has got many sides to her personality.

On ‘Rubbin Minds’ this Sunday she let it all out on several controversies that have trailed her career and relationships with fellow artistes, especially the men.

From her relationship with P-square, to the other celebrity men she has been reported to have dated, her issues with Mode-9, being friends with Waje and Omawunmi, plus a little about the current happenings in her love life, Muna spoke about life in the limelight.

With Ebuka probing deep, she held firm to her resolve not to reveal the identity of the man in her life at the moment. She however could not escape screening Ebuka’s shortlist of suspects or contenders with a variety of answers ranging from outright denial to sarcasm.

When asked if she had dated D’banj, she responded “D’banj, who’s that”?

The young lady appears determined to enjoy her return to the industry, and she has sent out a warning:

“I’m not about to diss anybody, I’m not about to make sure that somebody dies before I can (rise), I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes. I’m on my lane, when you come to my lane then it’s a problem”.

Muna is currently working on an album due for release in 2014. Having just shot a video in Atlanta US, she says she is back wiser, and with a better understanding of the industry. The album will be released on her record label called ‘No Conscience Entertainment’.

Speaking on the sustainability of pageants globally, she said “the pageants will continue until plastic surgery is normal. When it (plastic surgery) becomes very normal there’s nothing to contest in anymore because everybody is beautiful”

Fans launch website to honour 2face

Ace musician 2face Idibia has over the years inspired music lovers with the message and melody in his music, gathering a huge number of fans around the world. Some of his fans have come together to give back to him.

On his 37th birthday, a group of fans who call themselves ‘2facemaniacs‘ launched a fan website www.2facemaniacs.com to honour him. The website according to one of the site admins will serve as a meeting point for all 2face’s fans across the globe.

“We wanted to bring all 2face’s fans to one portal, you know he does have millions of fans across the globe. It’s our way of saying a big thank you to him”, Tayo one of the site admins told Nigerian Entertainment News.

Afolayan, Asa, Tinubu bag leadership awards

Award-winning film director and actor, Kunle Afolayan; ace singer, Bukola ‘Asa’ Elemide; and entrepreneur, Wale Tinubu have been recognised for their contributions in their chosen fields by the African Leadership Network.

The African leadership Network awards are meant to search for a new generation of leaders for Africa, who despite their relatively young age, are uniquely positioned to play a role in taking Africa to a new era of prosperity.

Afolayan, who won the award for the Best Achievement in Art Direction at the 2012 African Movie Academy Awards for his latest film production, Phone Swap, was quoted as saying, ‘‘I will put in my own contribution as an African and as a young entrepreneur. “

Asa has consistently extended the frontiers of global discourse for a peaceful world via her songs. Also awarded by the network is the Managing Director, MNET, Biola Alabi.

New trend: Nigerian celebrities giving out cash on twitter

It is fast becoming a trend on twitter for Nigerian celebrities to distribute freebies. It first started with Don Jazzy who began the generous act by distributing free Recharge cards via his twitter handle, then he stepped up to distributing cash …N100, 000.
Well, Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme and Musician Iyanya Mbuk have joined the league.
Today on twitter, ‘Kukere’ singer, Iyanya Mbuk distributed free MTN, GLO, AIRTEL and ETISALAT recharge cards to his followers.
Few minutes later, Chidi Mokeme also started the distribution of his freebies too, but unlike his previous counterparts, he made no announcement.
He caught his followers unaware by tweeting fastest fingers and the card nos.  The followers that were smart enough won it and they joyfully tweeted back in appreciation.
