Shaydee Set To Launch Debut Album ‘Rhythm And Life’

shaydeeFour years after signing to Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), singer Shaydee, announces his debut album, ‘Rhythm And Life’ is set for an official release on November 25, 2016.

The artiste, originally named Shadrach Adeboye Folarin, shared the official track-list for the 20-track album, featuring label mates, Niyola and Banky W, as well as a host of other popular artistes including 2baba, Phyno, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Iyanya.

Production credits for songs on the album go to Spax, Maleekberry, Legendarybeatz, Papijay and several others.

Shaydee made quite a unique entrance into the music scene, as he contributed immensely to the success of the EME 2012 collective album, ‘Empire Mates State of Mind’.

Prior to the announcement of his debut album, the artiste had thrilled fans with a number of top notch singles and had featured in many chart topping songs by A-list artistes.

He hopes to do the same with the soon coming album.

Niyola’s ‘Toh Bad’ Takes Away Best RnB Video At NMVAs

NiyolaEmpire Mates Entertainment’s First Lady, Niyola’s love track, Toh Bad, has received an award for Best RnB video of the year at the just concluded Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).

Niyola beat top shots 2Face Idibia, Wande Coal and others to clinch the nod and the ‘Toh Bad’ video director, Kemi Adetiba was not let out as she bagged the award for Best Video Director.

Kemi Adetiba Wins Creative Artist of the Year At African Diaspora Awards

Kemi AdetibaMulti talented video director, Kemi Adetiba has bagged the Creative Artist of the Year award at the African Diaspora Awards ceremony, in the United States of America.

The event held at the Gerald Lynch Theatre in New York, on Saturday.

Kemi Adetiba, who won the award in the Visual Image category has received commendations all year long for some of the music videos she directed, including Onye by Waje, Toh Bad by Niyola and Sitting On The Throne, for raving rapper – Olamide.

Kemi, the self-styled “Bruce Lee of Visuals”, has also been nominated for awards at the forthcoming Headies Awards which will hold in December.

ToolzNigerian celebrities trooped out in their numbers for the launch of a popular TV show, “The Juice” hosted by Nigerian On Air Personality, Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru.

Onyeka Onwenu, Sonny Irabor, Timi Dakolo Pay Tribute To Late Christy Essien-Igbokwe

Icons in Nigeria’s entertainment industry gathered at the Intercontinental Hotels Lagos on Sunday, 17 November to pay tribute to the late Lady of Songs; Christy Essien Igokwe, as her family launched her 11th and final album.

Present at the event were representative of Governor Raji Fashola; Commissioner Mike Ogbiadombe and the representative of Governor Godswill Akpabio; Umana Aniekan. Special Guests also included Onyeka Onwenu, Sonny Irabor, Timi Dakolo, Niyola, Yemi Alade, among others.

Giving the opening speech, Onyeka Onwenu described the late icon: “Christy was an amazing woman, a colleague and a friend. Make no mistake, we were competitors but it brought out the best in us.”

The event had dance performances to songs of the late legend and stage performances of one of her most popular works on TV – New Masquerade by PAWS. A fashion show showcasing clothes worn by the Late Lady of Songs on stage was part of the activities for the night as well as musical performances by Timi Dakolo, Yemi Alade, Victor Essien (Sleeky) and The Soul Train band.

Speaking at the event, the late singer’s son, Kaka Igbokwe said: “We are so happy to celebrate her art, her style and her heart. She was an amazing woman who touched the nation through her music, her acting and passion for children. We are excited that these distinguished Nigerians took time out to attend to honour her.”

About Christy Essien-Igbokwe

Christy Uduak Essien-Igbokwe MFR, also known as Nigeria’s Lady of Songs, was born on November 11 in 1960.

She was the first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and the chairman and managing director of Soul Train Entertainment Limited.

Although she was not Yoruba, most of her hit songs were sung in the western Nigerian language, and drew heavily on the culture and tradition.

Essien’s fluency in Yoruba, English, Igbo and her native Ibibio earned her an appeal which cut across tribal lines and thousands of fans will remember her for the song titled ‘Seun Rere.’

She died on June 30 2011.

DJ Xclusive Drops “No Time” Video Featuring Skales May D, Tillaman

DJ Xclusive has released the video for his popular single, ‘No Time,’ featuring Skales, May D and Tillaman.

Directed by Squareball AdasaCookey, the video depicts DJ Xclusive as the debonair party-starting hero, adroitly incorporating his signature style.

The video features guest appearances from a few celebrities including May D, Banky W, Skales, Shaydee, Niyola, Tillaman, Uti Nwachukwu, and a host of others.

The video comes right after Xclusive’s hosting of Big Brother Africa: The Chase live eviction show last weekend where he thrilled crowds in South Africa as well as the entire African continent with his famed repertoire. He took his place in the DJ’s booth at the Channel O Party for the Chase Mates last.

The video was released under the auspices of EME. The song was released  on the EME Crew Album.

EME crew plans Christmas present for their fans

Popular record label Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) have announced that they will round-up activities for this year with a ground breaking concert tagged “The Baddest”

The concert will have the EME super stars led by their boss and R&B singer Banky W and internationally renowned pop star Wizkid thrilling fans with some of their greatest hits of 2012.

Chairman of the group, Banky W, said the crew have been on a tour in nine states in North America. He said the concert is a gift to their fans who have supported them and appreciated their effort through out the year “The Baddest” concert is a very special gift to our fans for all the support they have shown us throughout the year. What should you expect? EVERYTHING! You don’t want to miss this… TRUST me… No really… Trust me!”

He also added “The BADDEST concert will be the first in a series of specially-designed concerts headlined by Wizkid and Banky, with support from other EME acts and ‘friends of the house, including crowd pleasers selected from home and abroad”

The EME team comprises of Wizkid, Banky W, and Skales to promising acts like Shaydee, Niyola and celebrity disc jockey, DJ Exclusive.

The anticipated concert is scheduled to hold Friday December 21st at The Grounds, Ocean View Restaurant Victoria Island.

EME crew thrills fans at Channel O O’ News in Kenya

The EME crew shut down the Channel O O’ News event which was recently held in Kenya.

The crew which consists of Banky W, Shaydee, Niyola, Wizkid, Skales and Dj Xclusive left their fans with so much excitement, making them crave for more.

The event also featured other African artistes including Khuli Chana, Wyre and Camp Mulla.

Foremost Nigerian artist, Innocent Tuface Idibia has teamed up with members of the EME Music Empire to produce a video track enjoining Nigerians to “Get up, stand up and take action for Nigeria’s future.” #Dream4Naija

The video track which is titled ‘Naija, Change Is Gonna Come’, is produced by the EME Empire and tagged “The sound of EME’s new youth anthem-Change.”

The track featured the EME boss, Banky W, pop sensation, WizKid and other top Nigerian artists such as Tuface Idibia, Cobhams Asuquo and Eldee.

The artists urged Nigerian youth-to “Get up, stand up and  take action for Nigeria’s future — #Dream4Naija.”

The track which is coming at a time when insurgency and killings by fundamentalist sect-Boko Haram, are reaching unprecedented levels in the northern part of the country, calls for political and religious leaders to get united in peace and harmony.

They also enjoined Nigerians to change their way of thinking and mindset and “turn away from corruption and become socially responsible.”

The video was released on YouTube on the 7th of August 2012 and it also features Toyosi Akerele and the first lady of EME Empire, Niyola.
