Kaduna Records Another Earth Tremor

Earth TremorA third earth tremor has occurred again at Kwoi community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident is coming a week after a similar one cracked some walls in the same community.

The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Ezekiel Baba-Karik, who confirmed the fresh earth tremor to Channels Television in Kaduna, said the latest incident happened three times in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Although he stated that no life was lost from the earth tremor, Mr Baba-Karik disclosed that a team of geologists and geophysicists from NEMA are currently in the community to ascertain the real cause of the incident that has created panic among the residents.

He however, called on the residents to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.

Second Occurrence 

Previously, a second earth tremor occurred at Sambang Dagi community barely 24 hours after a similar incident was recorded at Kwoi village both in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna state, North West Nigeria.

An indigene of the area told Channels Television that the second vibration occurred very early in the morning on Monday, leaving residents scampering for safety.

There were also concerns that the earth tremor could destroy several artifacts that are located in Nok community.

The town of Nok is barely four kilometres from Kwoi where the local government secretariat of ‘Jaba’ is located, while Sambang Dagi is about 20km away from Nok.

First Tremor

After the first tremor Residents of Kwoi community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been living in fear over what they described as an earth tremor which occurred on Saturday.

A resident of the community described to our correspondent on telephone how the underground vibration shakes houses in the affected community to their foundations.

He said that residents have fled their homes for fear of being caught unawares by the disturbing occurrence.

Imo Police Parades Suspects For Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Murder

The Imo State Police Command on Tuesday paraded over 25 suspects alleged to have been involved in various degrees of crime ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, fraud and murder.

While parading the suspects at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, said the arrest also involves that of a 38 year-old Pastor, Delight Korie of Water Ground Ministry in Njaba Local Government Area, who attempted to murder one of his church members in the pretense of conducting a deliverance session for her beside a river in Njaba.

The commissioner also disclosed that the suspects arrested in respect of the kidnappings were the notorious gang that had been terrorizing the peace of the state in recent times especially in New Owerri, World Bank layout and Port-Harcourt road area of the city.

CP Lakanu, however, called on all Imo residents to support the police command in the fight against criminality in the state by furnishing the command with useful information about criminals and their activities.

He also assured the citizens of continued protection of lives and property by the command.

Items recovered from the suspects include guns, machetes, fake dollars, gun cartridges with rounds of ammunition and bullets as well as other harmful devices.

Imo Government Commences First Phase Of Immunization Against Polio

PolioThe Imo State Government has commenced the first phase of the 2016 immunization programme against polio across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

Flagging off the campaign at Njaba Local Government Area in Imo State on Saturday, the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said that the immunization campaign programme against polio is to once again, dramatize his administration’s zeal in delivering quality health care system for children in the state.

Governor Okorocha said that the programme would deliver children in the state from the hands of the deadly polio disease that had taken the lives of many innocent children over the years.

The Governor noted that the immunization would complement the news that Nigeria is now a polio free country.

He, however, enjoined all parents to take advantage of the immunization programme by the State Government, to immunize their children against polio and other form of diseases.

The Imo State Commissioner for Health, Ngozi Njoku, said that the campaign would go across the 27 local government areas of the state with the flag off in Njaba Local Government Area.

She said that the immunization programme against polio is part of the determination of the Okorocha led administration to affirm the good news that Nigeria is a polio free country.

As the Imo State Government takes the campaign to all the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, it would go a long way to put an end to any issue of polio among children in the state.

Okorocha Donates N10m To Rescued Teenage Pregnant Girls

Help has finally come the way of the 24 pregnant teenage girls who were rescued from child traffickers in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, as the state governor, Rochas Okorocha has donated the sum of N10 million for their upkeep and maternity care.

While addressing journalists in Owerri, the state capital, the governor described the incident as “a sad and unfortunate one which is totally unacceptable by the Imo State government”.

He advised parents “to monitor their children especially the female ones when they are still in secondary schools” since, according to him, investigations revealed that all the girls got pregnant in the course of their studies and were confused on what to do until they fell into the hands of the child traffickers.

The governor further disclosed that the state government has adopted all the girls and will take cater for them until they are delivered of their babies.

Meanwhile the governor has directed that the police should do everything possible to arrest the woman nick named “Madam One Thousand”, who is alleged to be behind the business.

He also directed that the illegal maternity and motherless babies homes be brought down with immediate effect.

Police Uncover Illegal Orphanage With 17 Pregnant Teenage In Imo

The Imo state police command has uncovered an illegal motherless baby’s home where about 17 pregnant teenage girls are held hostage for the purpose of child making and trafficking in Imo state, south-east Nigeria.

The locked-up girls are impregnated and after delivery, their children are taken away from them for fee and they (the girls) are returned back into the disguised house for another cycle of breeding.

The orphanage, known as `Ahamefula Motherless Babies Home,’ is located in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area and was run by a woman identified as ‘Madam One Thousand.’


Parading the teenage girls, the state police commissioner, Mr Mohammed Katsina, said the house where the girls were kept was disguised as a motherless baby’s home, as well as a sachet water (pure water) manufacturing factory.

According to the police boss the girls with age range from 15 to 25 were impregnated by two men who were also arrested.

He said that the building in which the women were accommodated was also used as a sachet water producing company to deceive the public.

A similar discovery was recently made by the police command in Abia state, where a fake social worker; Ngozi Nkwonu, was arrested for operating a fake orphanage where teenage girls are impregnated and the babies sold off.

Briefing journalists on the discovering, the Commissioner of Police in Abia state, Usman Tlli Abubakar disclosed that one Odinakachi Samuel from Ovurungwu Village, Isiala Ngwa South local government area, who delivered a baby girl connived with the nurse Monica Benjamin to sell her baby for N150,000.
