We Can Be Dangerous Against Anybody – Wenger

WengerArsène Wenger believes Arsenal’s “relentless” attack earned them a hard-fought victory against Watford.

The Gunners scored three times in 12 minutes as Alexis, Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey were on target in the 3-0 win at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Arsenal have found the back of the net 13 times in their last four games and Wenger is encouraged by that.

“I like that we continued to attack relentlessly until the end and to finish with it was a convincing win,” he told Arsenal Player.

“We scored five at Leicester, we scored three against Watford today, who had only conceded one [at home], so that tells you we can score goals and we can be dangerous against anybody.

“We faced a team that was very well organised, very strong in their challenges and very direct as well. It took us a while to adjust to that level of commitment and when we did it in the second half we dominated the game and after the first goal you could see that mentally and physically they got the blow.

“Sometimes the first goal changes the game. When they had to come out it was much easier for us. We know once we are in full power, we are quick in transition and we can kill teams off with our pace and that is what happened.”

What Is Important Is Good Football – Wenger

WengerArsène Wenger believes that Arsenal are getting better with every passing week and he wants the team to continue with their style of football.

The Gunners followed on their midweek Capital One Cup win at Tottenham with a 5-2 victory at Leicester City on Saturday.

Having ended the Foxes’ unbeaten run, Wenger feels his side are close to repeating the form shown in the second half of last season.

“It has been two weeks and the league is tight again,” he said. “You have to be consistent and that is what we focus on.

“I feel like the quality of our game is getting better week by week. Overall we are finding the level back that we showed at the end of the season.

“We came to Leicester who have not lost this season and the fact that we came here and won in a convincing way was important for the confidence as well.

“I’m just glad I did my job for the team and the fans. I’m not too concerned about the result. I have had 30 years of football and I know what is important and that is good football.

“What you want is to manage a team that enjoys to play together and gets better every week.”

Sanchez Is Hat-Trick Hero As Arsenal Trash Leicester City 5-2

sanchezAlexis Sanchez scored a hat-trick as Arsenal outclassed Leicester City 5-2 in their English Premier League match on Saturday.

The Gunners were one goal down with a strike from Jamie Vardy in the 13th minute of the game, before Theo Walcott made a balance with his 18th minute goal.

Sanchez made his hat-trick with goals in the 33rd, 58th and 81st minute.

Jamie Vardy scored his second goal in the 89th minute, making the scoreline 4-2, before Olivier Giroud scored the 5th to put the game beyond doubt.

Arsenal Beat Crystal Palace 2-1 At Selhurst Park

arsenalArsenal has recorded their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Olivier Giroud got the opener with a wonderfully athletic finish from Mesut Ozil’s cross, but Joel Ward drew Palace level with only his second Premier League goal.

It looked like the gunners defensive frailties may return to haunt them, but an unfortunate Damien Delaney own goal gave Arsenal the spoils.

The victory, Arsenal’s first following their opening day loss, means they climbed from the bottom of the table, while palace remain sixth.

Arsenal suffered a 2-0 loss against West Ham in their first match in the Premier League, where the team boss, Arsene Wenger acknowledged his team’s poor defensive organisation.

Ozil Is So Difficult To Stop – Henry

Mesut-Ozil-ArsenalThierry Henry has praised the “amazing” Mesut Ozil and says he is difficult to stop when in full flow.

The Germany International was one of the stand-out players in the FA Cup final, and scored five times and claimed nine assists in his second season at Arsenal.

Henry is a big admirer of Ozil and says his influence on the Arsenal team is growing.

“Mesut is a very good player, we all know about his quality, we all know about what he has done in the game,” he told Arsenal Player. “He is a world champion, you have to respect that and his vision on the pitch is tremendous.

“He is an amazing player. When he is on song like he was in the FA Cup final, he is difficult to stop.

“When you have the likes of Giroud in the box, Alexis Sanchez running at people and Theo too, Mesut can see a pass and control the game in the same way that Santi does.”

Henry believes that the likes of Ozil and Alexis have given Arsenal the quality to mount a sustained title challenge.

“I keep on mentioning players, all that we are waiting on is the consistency in the league,” he said. “I saw some of the players talking about that consistency, and I know they have the quality to do it.”

My Secret Is My Surprise Instinct – Ozil

OzilMesut Ozil says the secret to his success is bringing a “surprise effect” to his play.

The World Cup winner had a fine season for Arsenal and played a starring role in the FA Cup final victory against Aston Villa.

Ozil’s impressive form continued with a hat-trick assists in Germany’s recent victory against Gibraltar and he puts it all down to playing on instinct.

“Sometimes I see passes and other players might be surprised and wonder how I saw it,” he told Arsenal Player. “My aim is to have that surprise effect on the pitch and find gaps that only very few players can.

“When you have that surprise instinct on the pitch, it’s tough for the opposition to stop the passes.

“It’s important to have that and it’s why I sometimes see spaces to pass into, because I’ve already thought about where my team-mates could run and how I can make the most of that millisecond, think a tick faster than the opposition and find the gap.

“A while ago I was on Instagram and saw that a fan had made a graphic showing what other players see and what I see. I found that really interesting.

“I think the things that I sometimes see come from an instinct and you can’t really learn that, though you can work hard at passing. I spontaneously decide on what I’m going to do and maybe see spaces that other players don’t.”

Ozil Has Proved Critics Wrong – Pires

OzilRobert Pires says that Mesut Ozil is one of the best players he has ever seen.

Ozil has been in fine form since returning from a three-month spell on the sidelines, claiming four goals and four assists in 15 appearances for Arsenal.

The World Cup winner curled in an inch-perfect free-kick against Liverpool on Saturday and Pires believes he deserves praise for another impressive performance.

“For me, the man of the match was Mesut Ozil,” the former Gunner told the Arsenal Magazine. “And I am so glad that he proved his critics wrong.

“Too many people have criticised him this season and overall since he arrived at Arsenal. I train with him regularly and I can tell you that he is one of the best players I have seen.

“He loves this club and cares a lot about it. He wants to win trophies here and wants to make the fans happy, like he did against Liverpool. First, there was his wonderful pass for Aaron on the first goal. Then he scored that wonderful free-kick for the second goal.

“Again, I am not sure Mignolet can do much better because the strike is so clinical and goes out before coming back in. But Mesut also worked hard for the team, he defended, he was precious on the ball and he was simply instrumental.

“You can see that his understanding with Aaron, Santi, Alexis or Olivier is perfect. I love seeing Mesut, Aaron and Olivier exchanging those short passes.

“Liverpool could not cope with our pass and move in this game. We overrun them in midfield, pressurised them at the back and contained them up front. This is a very important win for the rest of the season but also for next season.”

We Have To Give Our Best Until The End – Wenger

WengerArsenal Manager, Arsène Wenger, has urged his players to maintain focus and the level of performance that has seen them score many goals in recent games.

The Frenchman told arsenal.com, you can “smell” the goals in his Arsenal team.

The Gunners beat Liverpool 4-1 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday with Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil, Alexis and Olivier Giroud on target.

Wenger’s side have had 15 different goalscorers this season – the most in the Premier League – and the manager is delighted with his attacking options.

“You smell that we can score goals,” he said. “If you look at the number of goals we’ve scored now (62 from 31 league games), that’s quite good with seven games to go.

“We have a good mentality and good cohesion in the team. There is something happening. That shows you that they are ready to fight for each other. You can see that – you can’t cheat on that.

“That is a good basis, and defensively we are getting better. I think you also have to give credit to players who get less, such as Coquelin. In the first half he broke up many attacks in a convincing way.”

Arsenal moved into second place ahead of Manchester City who lost at Crystal Palace on Monday, and Wenger is determined to end the season as strongly as possible.

“Let’s give everything to do it and see what happens,” he said. “It’s too early [to talk about finishing second] with seven games to go but we’re in a good position, with four at home and only three away.

“We’re on a good run so I would say that it will be down to how we can maintain that focus and level of urgency between now and the end of the season.

“I’m a competitor and what that means is you have to go as high and as far as you can. When you go home if somebody was better than us, then well done, but we have to give our best until the end.”

Arsenal’s Giroud, Wenger Win Monthly Awards

ArsenalArsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, has been named Barclays Manager of the Month alongside the Gunners’ striker, Olivier Giroud, who clinched the Player of the Month Award.

The Gunners won four Premier League games consecutively in March, scoring nine goals and conceding two.

The French international Giroud scored five times, with a brace at Newcastle adding to goals against Everton, QPR and West Ham in the English Premier League.

The Arsenal boss had earlier won the award 13 times, while this will make it the 14th time of winning the same award in 19 years at Arsenal.

The Gunners are third in the Premier League table with eight matches remaining.

They are seven points behind Chelsea, who is leading with a game in hand and Manchester City who is just a point ahead.

Arsenal’s remaining games also include a home match against Chelsea on April 26 and a trip to fourth-placed Manchester United on May 17.

Fifth-placed Liverpool travel to the Emirates on Saturday.

Although, based on current form, the Gunners seem likely winners against Liverpool on Saturday, Arsene Wenger is not taking chances especially as the international break could have affected the momentum. He just wants to keep on winning!

“It’s a big game and an opportunity for us to continue our run, which is what we want to do,” Wenger said. “We are on a strong run and we just want to focus on winning our games, winning the next one. Liverpool is a big opponent but we play at the Emirates and we want to do it.

“You know after the international break it’s always important that you come back and straight away you are on it.”

Liverpool Manager, Brendan Rodgers, is also confident he can get a result at the Emirates after a disappointing home loss to Manchester United.

“It’s a game we will want to get something from,” he said.

“In terms of the objectives going into the game, it’s no different to what it was before Manchester United. But of course we had a disappointing result and performance last time out.

“We really want to make sure we perform and give ourselves a chance to get a positive result.”

EPL: We Fought Through The Disappointment – Rosicky

RosickyTomas Rosicky has praised Arsenal’s character and mental belief after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Everton at Emirates Stadium.

The Czech midfielder secured an important three points late on after Olivier Giroud had swept Arsène Wenger’s side into a first-half lead.

Rosicky feels Arsenal were hampered by their Champions League defeat against Monaco on Wednesday but said that the team were now back on track.

“You could see that the lads were affected by it and the technical level of our game was not there,” the midfielder told Arsenal Player.

“It was difficult as we were affected by the loss to Monaco but you go through disappointments throughout the season, you just have to fight through it.

“I’m glad we have these three points, it’s very important for the confidence of the whole team.

“It was a difficult game. We weren’t at our best after the disappointing night against Monaco, so it was very important to win and get the three points which we managed in the end.”

Rosicky was also pleased to score his third goal of the season on Sunday – a strike that made the seven minutes of stoppage time more comfortable.

“I was a bit lucky because there was a little deflection but I was in a good position,” he said.

“Mesut gave me a good ball because he saw me coming to the edge of the box from deep, so I shot towards the far post and got a bit lucky with the deflection.”

Headed Goals Special To Me – Giroud

GiroudOlivier Giroud says he gets a “special satisfaction” from scoring an old-fashioned centre forward’s header.

The France striker has found the net four times since returning from injury but it was his first goal against Newcastle United that gave him the greatest pleasure.

However, despite scoring four headers in his last five games against the Magpies, Giroud told Arsenal’s official matchday programme that his aerial ability is a skill he still needs to improve.

“It’s a special satisfaction because people say when you are tall you have to score more goals with your head,” he explained.

“I was a bit frustrated to miss the chance against Stoke because it could’ve been a good comeback when we were 1-0 down. It was a great delivery and I didn’t snatch it properly.

“I was telling myself that I will score the next cross and that was against Newcastle. Alexis made a good cross and the most important thing is that my timing was right. I had a run-up as well.

“It’s surprising to hear but headers aren’t my best quality. I have the timing but I still need to work on the technique. You always have a side you prefer more than the other one, so I try to work on it every week and it’s something I can improve,” Giroud said.
