Policemen attached to the Operation Yaki Security Outfit in Kaduna State have recovered over 100 cows and sheep from suspected rustlers in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The coordinator of the security outfit, Yakubu Yusuf, made the disclosure while parading the recovered animals before reporters on Tuesday in Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria.
Mr Yusuf said that the animals were recovered during a raid at a bush in Sabon Gaya, following intelligence report from patriotic residents concerning the activities of the suspected rustlers in the area.
He added that the suspected rustlers took to their heels upon arrival of the security operatives.
The coordinator also noted that some of the animals, which were stolen from Kano and Niger states, were brought to Kaduna State through the bush.
He assured the public that his men would not relent in the war against cattle rustling, banditry and other criminal activities across the state.
He called for the cooperation of the citizens in the fight against crime in Kaduna State.
Security operatives in Kaduna State have rescued three kidnapped persons in the State’s Kachia Local Government Area.
A statement by a spokesman for the State Governor, Samuel Aruwan, said the victims were rescued at Idon village in Kachia Local Government by men of the Operation Yaki Security Outfit on Thursday night.
According to the statement, the security operatives said they had received a distress call at their Control Room that some gang of armed bandits had kidnapped some persons.
Mr Aruwan stated that the bandits were intercepted along the Kaduna-Abuja highway after the security operatives engaged them in a gun battle.
He further said that the rescued persons had been reunited with their families and the items recovered from the bandits handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department of Kaduna State Police Command for further investigation.
Effort are also being intensified to track down the fleeing bandits.
The Governor’s spokesman further assured residents of the state that the state government and security agencies were deeply committed to protecting their lives and property.
He also appealed to citizens to continue to provide information to security agencies for prompt action in case of any emergency.
