Nigerian Acts Win Big At 2016 MAMA Awards

yemi alade 3Nigerian artistes had a good outing at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards with Wizkid, Yemi Alade and Tekno emerging big winners.

Wizkid won three major awards on the night as Artist of the Year, Best Male, and Best Collaboration.

Sensational singer, Yemi Alade, won the Best Female, while Tekno was named Best Breakthrough Act.

In that category, she went up against Tiwa Savage, Supreme Mavin Dynasty (SMD), Josey, Vanessa Mdee and Mz Vee.

From South Africa, Cassper Nyovest won the Best Live Act while Emtee came tops in the Best Hip Hop Category.

Controversial athlete, Caster Semenya was named the 2016 Person of the Year while South African trumpeter, composer, and singer, Hugh Masekela got a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sauti Sol from Kenya got the award for the Best Group.

The event held at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on Saturday was hosted by Television personality and businesswoman, Bonang Matheba.

Chidinma Scores Her First International Music Collaboration

chidimaNigerian R&B singer, Chidinma, has scored her first international music collaboration as she records a track with Kenyan based band, Sauti Sol.

The kedike singer teamed up with the Kenyan quartet on a yet to be released track as revealed on social media platform, Instagram, by the Kenyan artistes.

Chidinma is also a recording artist, stage performer, and brand ambassador for a telecom brand operating in Nigeria.

She became the first female musician to peak at number 1 on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 chart, after releasing the music video for her “Emi Ni Baller” single.

Tiwa Savage, Davido, Flavour, Others Shine At MAMAs

Tiwa MAMABig names in Nigeria’s music industry, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Clarence Peters, Flavour won awards at the just concluded MTV Africa Music Awards which held on Saturday, in Durban, South Africa.

Other stars including Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Ice Prince, Burna Boy, Dr Sid, Sauti Sol, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie, French Montana, Miguel, Trey Songz, Mafikizolo, Oskido, Phyno and Yuri da Cunha, gave awesome performances at the Durban’s International Conference Centre.

While South African duo, Mafikizolo won in the Best Group and Song of The Year categories, Davido took home two awards, for Best Male and Artist of the Year.

Tiwa Savage, Clarence Peters, Flavour went away with one award each.
