Lobi Stars Appoint Solomon Ogbeide As Head Coach

Nigeria Professional Football League club, Lobi Stars, have appointed Solomon Ogbeide as their new head coach.

The appointment of Ogbeide was ratified by the board of the Makurdi-based club on Monday.

The veteran trainer has previously managed clubs like Sunshine Stars, Akwa United, Warri Wolves, Bayelsa United and Sharks FC.

Lobi Stars currently occupy 12th spot on the NPFL log, with 24 points from 18 matches.

NPFL: Kano Pillars Sanctioned For Crowd Violence

Kano PillarsFour-time Nigerian champions Kano Pillars have been slammed with a 2.4 million Naira fine for the bad behaviour of their fans during a league game.

The League Management Company (Lmc) sanctioned the Kano club for the poor conduct of their fans during the match against Enyimba at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday.

Kano Pillars are to compensate an Enyimba official with the sum of 250,000 Naira following injuries he sustained from an alleged attack during the commotion at the stadium.

Enyimba will also be paid 150,000 Naira for their damaged vehicle at the stadium.

Kano Pillars React To Win At Sunshine Stars

Kano PillarsKano Pillars head coach, Mohammed Baba Ganaru, wants his side to remain focused after the away win at Sunshine Stars moved his side to second on the league table with a game to play.

The former champions stunned the hosts 1-0 in a matchday 14 clash at the Akure Township Stadium.

Adamu Mohammed scored the winner deep into the second half of the keenly contested encounter to hand his side the vital away three points.

Ganaru said that his side cannot settle for anything less in the top flight than the league’s top prize.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars coach, Solomon Ogbeide, has blamed his side’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal for their home defeat to Kano Pillars.

Coach Ogbeide also thinks that luck deserted his team when Dele Olorundare’s headed attempt came off the post at some point in the match.

Sunshine Stars drop to 14th with 17 points from 14 games.

Okiki Afolabi converted a 34th-minute penalty to put the Owena Waves in front before Samad Kadiri made in 2-0 in the 51st minute.

Afolabi completed his brace in the 59th minute to complete a comprehensive win for the hosts.

Sunshine Stars, who have now gone seven games unbeaten, are 12th on the NPFL table while Nasarawa United are 16th.

Meanwhile, Enyimba’s defender Chinedu Udoji, has described the defending champions’ 1-1 draw against Heartland in the oriental derby as a fair game.

The two-time African champions, remain in 19th place on the NPFL standings with 13 points from nine matches.

Enyimba took the lead after 27 minutes through striker Peter Onyekachi while former Enyimba star Ifeanyi Onuigbo got the equaliser in the 31st minute.

While the team’s technical adviser looked forward with hope that things would change, midfielder, Augustine Agbane was reflecting on the game. He said that they gave their best but luck was not on their side.

On his side, Sunshine Stars Head Coach, Solomon Ogbeide, said that he was impressed with the away draw against Ikorodu United.

Sunshine Stars are 18th in the NPFL with eight points from nine games and Coach Ogbeide said that the team have shown commitment that they could fight for a continental ticket.

Meanwhile, the technical adviser of Enyimba FC has cautioned his side not to let down their guard.

The team’s coach asked them to expect a tough fight back from Etoile Du Sahel despite their 3-0 advantage in the CAF Champions League.

Sensational striker, Mfon Udoh, was the hero of the day as his team sank the Tunisian side at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port Harcourt, south-south Nigeria.

Udoh expressed confidence that the two-time African Champions would seal their victory in Tunisia.

The Ondo State based football club picked up the maximum three points for the first time in the season after beating the visiting Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan 2-1.

Dele Olorundare had put Sunshine Stars ahead in the 10th minute before Tope Orelope equalised for Shooting Stars in the 65th minute.

Afolabi Okiki subsequently scored the winning goal in the 90th minute to give the home side the maximum points.

Coach Ogbeide expressed optimism that the win would help to boost the confidence of the players.

Bayelsa United Part Ways With Coach Ogenyi

ogenyiStruggling Nigeria Professional Football League side, Bayelsa United have parted ways with Head Coach, Evans Ogenyi.

Reports say the decision to relieve the former Lobi Stars handler of his job was reached after Sunday’s home defeat to fellow strugglers, Sharks Football Club.

The home defeat left the club in 19th position with 22 points from 25 matches.

Ogenyi became the club’s third coach this season after Solomon Ogbeide and George Ederekuomoh served in an interim capacity.

Bayelsa United’s management is yet to make an official announcement on Ogenyi’s replacement ahead of their trip to Ifeanyi Ubah FC.
