Akwa Ibom Govt. Assigns Portfolios To New Commissioners

Governor Emmanuel, Corruption, Gov. Udom,18 commissioners and two special advisers sworn in by Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel, have now been assigned portfolios.

The state House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed the nominees, following their screening exercise.

House leader, Udo Akpan, had moved a motion for their confirmation and was seconded by Aniekan Bassey, the member in charge of Uruan constituency of the state.

It would be recalled that Governor Emmanuel dissolved the state Executive Council on October 15, 2016.

The new list was sent in on November 26, exactly 45 days after the dissolution of the former EXCO.

Governor Ayade Appoints 1,106 Persons In Cross River

Ben Ayade, Cross RiverGovernor Ben Ayade has announced the appointment of 1106 persons in Cross River State.

They are appointed as special advisers, special assistants, personal assistants as well as the Chairmen and members of Board, commissions, departments and agencies.

The appointment is in addition to the over 800 others which Governor Ayade had earlier made.

A breakdown of the appointment shows that 799 were appointed into various boards, commissions and agencies.

The remaining 307 appointees are: six special advisers, 30 senior special advisers, 75 special assistants, 25 personal assistants, 16 personal assistants to paramount rulers and 90 representatives of each local government in the State Food Bank Unit.

Others are, 21 liaison officers for the 18 local government areas and three senatorial districts, 18 special assistants on religious affairs and 26 permanent secretaries.

A statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Mr Christian Ita, on Tuesday says the appointments take effect from November 1, 2016.

Obiano Convenes Retreat For Anambra Economic Roadmap Upgrade

anambra state governor The Anambra State Government in South-east Nigeria has organised a two-day strategic retreat for members of the Executive Council to review the development policy of the state’s administration in the past one year.

The retreat is entitled: ”Accelerating the transformation of Anambra state through a systemic implementation Of Governor Willie Obiano’s Economic Blueprint”.

It is organised with the vision and keener focus on surpassing the achievements already made through a more committed and better implementation of the state policies and programmes in the next 18 months.

“Doing More With Less”

According to the State Governor, Willie Obiano, the retreat involves all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen and members of the State House of Assembly, coming together to reposition the state in keeping afloat financial quagmire, as well as being economically stable.

The governor in his determination to ensure a culture of “doing more with less” in the state brought financial experts to speak on the economic renaissance in Nigeria.

One of the guest speaker, Mr Bismarc Rewane, stressed the need for proper documentation of workforce and appropriate tax collection for an improved revenue generation.

At the end of the first half of the meeting, the Governor also spoke on the financial position of the state and maintained its stability which translates to regular and prompt payment of salaries to all civil servants.

The Chief Executive Officer of H. Pierson also suggested the sustainability of revenue generation, in order to have continuity in doing things differently in Anambra State.

Gov Dickson Swears-In Commissioner And Special Advisers

gov seriake dicksonThe Governor Of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, wants the newly sworn in Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Esueme Dan-Kikile and two Special Advisers to generate sound ideas that would further consolidate on the achievements of the government.

The Special Advisers are, Dr. Seiyifa Koroye on Strategy, Documentation and Community Relations and Barr. Lloyd Ineye-Owonaro, on Local Content Matters.

Governor Dickson, while congratulating the newly sworn in officers, urged them to demonstrate absolute commitment to the ideals enshrined in the restoration agenda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Addressing the new Commissioner, Governor Dickson urged him to re-engineer the Ministry to achieve effective dissemination of government policies and programmes as well as enlighten the people on their civic responsibilities.

Highlighting the dangers of inadequate information on the government’s activities in the state, the Governor noted that mischief-makers who indulge in blackmail and propaganda for parochial gains would misguide the citizenry.

Governor Dickson enjoined Mr Lloyd Owonaro to liaise with the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), to enable the state derive maximum benefit.

He also expressed the need for the Special Advisers to evolve programmes to promote the growth of local businesses and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
