With most of the Leagues in Europe finishing in May and Nigeria facing South Africa on June 10, Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, says players would not be going on holidays by the end of the season.
Rohr believes the only way to get a good result in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, is for the team to move into camp immediately and also play two friendlies.
On the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon, he noted that the African champions stand a good chance, having played more games.
Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has confirmed that Ogenyi Onazi has suffered a serious back injury on Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Senegal.
The stand in skipper was replaced by John Ogu in the first half and Rohr said afterwards that the midfielder would require a scan to ascertain the level of damage.
Rohr also suggested that Ahmed Musa could be carrying a knock after the Leicester City forward was substituted in the 75th minute.
The Super Eagles will take on Burkina Faso on Monday as they continue preparations for the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has insisted that the team will need all players to play at their premium in order to pick the lone ticket from their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification group.
Coach Rohr says his focus is to strengthen the spine of the team and ensure they can beat any team.
Coach Rohr believes the confidence has not been there because the team failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“But when results start to come, the confidence will return,” the optimistic coach said.
The Super Eagles will open their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign in Group B against Zambia on October 3.
