Inaugural Alumni Education UK Awards Ceremony Holds In Lagos

Education UKThe inaugural Education UK Alumni Awards held recently in Lagos South-South Nigeria and some young Nigerians who are making positive impact in the country were giving awards for job well done.

Recently, the British Council in Nigeria called for the nomination of individuals who studied in the UK and are making impact in their chosen career for the coveted Education UK Alumni Awards.

The call was heeded and nominations were announced. The awards finalists were celebrated by the British Council at a high profile award ceremony.

The award honours outstanding achievement made by entrepreneurs and professionals who have made entrepreneurial, professional and social impact on their communities and countries they live in.

The 2016 Education UK Award received more than 800 applications from alumni of 110 UK universities.

The evening started with a cocktail where the hosts, the finalists and guests mingled and networked.


CBN Adds To Forex Prohibition List             

forexThe Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has added overseas school fees and medical tourism to its list of items prohibited from the interbank foreign exchange window.

This brings the items on the forex prohibition list to 43 in number.

On Thursday, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State recommended the addition of the two items to the list.

He was speaking at the Cable Newspaper colloquium in Lagos.

In reaction to the development, the naira has hit a record low of 325 to the dollar while the pound trades for 450.

This follows shortage of foreign exchange caused by importers scrambling for the greenback to meet their obligations overseas.

While traders expect the naira to weaken further in coming days, the CBN official exchange rate has remain unchanged at 197 naira to the dollar.
