Reps Compel NNPC To Remit Debt To FG

The House of Representatives’ Committee on Finance on Wednesday said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) would be compelled to remit to the consolidate revenue fund, four years of unremitted revenue accruing to the federal government.

The chairman of the committee gave this resolution after a meeting with the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Andrew Yakubu as part of the on-going investigation into the non-remittance of funds by agencies of government.

The lawmakers also directed the NNPC to give express access to the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) to scrutiny the records of the corporation on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from 2009 to 2012.

The lawmakers said it is unacceptable for the NNPC to claim that it has been operating at a loss despite being protected by the government.
