Boko Haram:Reps. to Investigate Escape of Suspect

The House of Representatives has mandated a joint committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape of high profile terror suspects from the custody of security agencies.

The lawmakers decried the upsurge of the Islamic sect and linked the escape of the suspects to arrangements by the same sect from the police custody in Abuja.

Adopting a motion on the matter, sponsored by Mr Bitrus Kaze, the house mandated its joint committee on national security and public safety, police affairs and the army to look into the issue and report back in two weeks.

Bitrus Kaze said that apparent upsurge in attacks such as these can render the Nation’s Security totally worthless if not checked.

The lawmaker argued further that the escape of such terror suspects posed serious dangers to Nigerians and could affect the morale of security officer and urged his colleagues to “work assiduously in order to ensure maximum security and wellbeing of all citizens in line with relevant sections of the country’s Constitution and our legislative agenda”.
