Security has been beefed in Sokoto with the deployment of 8,000 officers as the joint team of security agents made up of the Police, Army and State security service to ensure adequate security in the state during the polls.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Police, Baba Bolanta “the police have deployed enough security personnel to man all polling stations within the state.”

Speaking to Channels Television at the Command’s headquarters in Sokoto, Mr. Bolanta says the Police Force in conjunction with other security agencies will ensure a hitch free election in the state.

He advised members of the public to perform their civic responsibilities without violating any of the nation’s laws, warning that the Police will deal decisively with anyone caught trying to truncate the efforts put in place for the conduct of a peaceful election/
