Musiliu Olokode, 32, has been brought before a Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly blinding a woman by pouring acid on her face.
Olokode, who was charged on Wednesday before Magistrate Oyindamola Ogala, had planned on killing his victim, Lateefah Adesope, reports say.
He is charged with “unlawfully and with intent to harm” 27-year-old Adesope, pouring acid on both her eyes.
The prosecutor, Essiet O. Eshiet, alleged that Olokode at the time of the attack had intended on killing her.
Olokode pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.
Ogala said the sureties should be responsible members of the public, with verifiable addresses and must show evidence of tax payment for three years.
Pending bail, the accused has been transferred to Kirikiri maximum prison and the case adjourned until 14 April.
