The harmonised executive committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against an order of the Court of Appeal, staying the execution of the judgment of the Federal High Court.
In the appeal, the exceutives want the apex court to restrain the National Leadership of the PDP, its organs, officers and members from continuing to act in disobedience of a valid and subsisting order of the Federal High Court.
Part of the seven grounds of appeal includes that: “The PDP by the hand of its National Secretary, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, seizing upon a false interpretation of the order of the lower court has written to the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission directing it not to recognise the candidates that emerged from the primaries conducted by the harmonised executives’ valid successors despite a judgment and subsisting order of the Federal High Court restraining them from interfering with the Applicants’ successors in the performance of their functions as the Ogun State Executive Committee of the PDP.”
Listed as defendants in the suit are the PDP, the former acting national chairman of the Party, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje and the immediate past National Vice Chairman South West of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo.
Others are Mr Uche Secondus, former legal adviser of the party, Mr Olusola Oke, Senator Monsurudeen Osolake and the Inspector General of Police
No date has however been fixed for the hearing of the appeal.
