A faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state that is believed to be loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo has elected new officers into the party’s executive council
Mr. Dipo Odujirin emerged the new state chairman of the party while Mr. Dapo Adeyemi was elected the secretary and Bidemi Osunbiyi emerged as the Publicity Secretary.
The new executives were elected at a congress which held in Abeokuta, the state capital on Sunday.
The congress was attended by delegates from the 20 local government areas of the state,
The election of these new executives is the latest twist to the crises that is rocking the party in the state, despite the recent ruling of Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu of the state High Court recognising the Bayo Bayo faction of the party.
In his acceptance speech, the factional chairman, Mr. Odujirin said he is ready to ensure genuine reconciliation of the various factions of the party in the state.
