Addressing a news conference shortly after the party’s inaugural National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, national chairman of the party, Mr. Chekwas Okorie said “electronic voting will help in eliminating electoral malpractices especially stuffing of ballot boxes and intimidation of voters on election day”.
Okorie who announced that the party will participate in all elections including the presidential election advised the federal government to transfer the responsibilities of the various State Independent Electoral Commisions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to eliminate the over-bearing influence of state governors who are working against the conduct of local government elections in their states.
Okorie said the introduction of the electronic voting will further entrench the nation’s democracy.
