The Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has said that the Nigerian national team is on its way to being ‘unbeatable’ after they set up a mouth-watering Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final with Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles converted two penalties in the last 10 minutes on Tuesday against Ethiopia to secure their place in the knockout stages.
The Eagles will now face the Elephants at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday, Cote d’Ivoire having already secured their spot in the last-eight thanks to the top Group D standing.
Keshi, a 1994 AFCON-winning captain with Nigeria, believes under his tutelage the Super Eagles can not only go all the way in this year’s edition, but will be world-beaters as well.
“This is a victory for Nigerians where ever they are in the world,” he told a post-match media conference on Tuesday. “This is a time for all Nigerians to celebrate.
“Now we face title favourites Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals and there will be no second chance for either side. I have a game plan but, with respect, that is for the players and not for you guys (journalists).
“I am so proud of my boys and this is one of the best teams to represent Nigeria.
“We were hungry for a win tonight after late equalisers robbed us of four points in earlier games.
“If we can keep this team together for the next two years I believe they will be virtually unbeatable. No one is giving us a chance against Ivory Coast, but let us see what happens.”
