All foreign workers with Setraco Construction Company, in Bauchi State, North East Nigeria have been evacuated to Abuja temporarily while operations of the company in the area have been shut down following the kidnapping of seven foreigners at the company’s site over the weekend.

The Public Relations Officer of the company, Abu Malik said the company is yet to establish contact with the kidnappers and the victims even as there are reports that Jama’atu Ansarul, a group which has links with al Qaeda and operating in northern Nigeria has claim responsibility for the abduction.

The Bauchi State government in a press release issued by Chief Press Secretary, Ishola Michael, condemned the kidnapping of the seven foreigners as well as the attack on the police station, describing the forceful attempt to enter the prisons as outrageous, criminal and barbaric.

The statement assured that Bauchi State government in conjunction with the security agencies will ensure the safe return of the kidnapped victims and bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice in accordance with the relevant laws of the land.
