SON Sets May 21st Deadline For E-Registration Of All Goods In Nigeria’s Market

Effective from 21st of May, 2013 all products to be sold in any Nigerian market must be electronically registered with the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) or risk being confiscated and destroyed.

This warning is coming on the heels of the newly introduced E-Product Registration programme initiated by the regulatory agency.

The process involves an online product profile or particulars registration onto the data base of S.O.N.

At a meeting in Lagos with importers and manufacturers, the Director General of SON, Mr Joseph Odusolu stated that the move is an international standard requirement that identifies genuine manufacturers, enhance traceability and help protect consumers from substandard products.
