An election petition tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo state capital, has thrown out the two petitions filed against the governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, in two separate rulings delivered on Friday.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, had his petition dismissed in the first ruling.

Justice Andovar Kaka’an threw out Mr. Akeredolu’s petition which alleged that the election voters register was tampered with.

The Judge ruled that the matter predated the election and that the party and its candidate were aware of the issue before but did nothing about it.

The tribunal also dismissed the case of the PDP candidate, Olusola Oke, insisting that the evidence did not agree with his pleadings in which he asked to be declared the winner of the election.
