A public affairs analyst and a member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Phrank Shuaibu, on Tuesday described the party’s decision to suspend Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State as ‘reckless’, alleging that the party is acting out a prepared ‘script’.

“These people have a written script and they have been following it methodically”, he said.

He described the suspension pronounced on the governor as ‘wrong, absurd, and reckless.

Mr Shuaibu, a PDP member disclosed that the embattled governor was not given fair hearing before being suspended because he could not fulfill a request by the leadership of the party.

“How can you wake up to say you have suspended a governor who is a member of the National Executive Council of your party, without fair hearing?”.

He said that Amaechi was never invited to any committee for questioning as regards the allegations laid against him.

He said the party had asked him (Amaechi) to reinstate a council chairman who had been removed by the State House of Assembly, for alleged corrupt practices.

He implied that the party’s request was undemocratic and illogical.

He credited the current crisis to certain individuals, who only want the party live by ‘absurd methods’.

Mr Shuaibu also revealed a ‘grand design’ to impeach the Governor Amaechi within the next two weeks, the same way former Governor Joshua Dariye (of Plateau state) was impeached.
