Okon Appointed Caretaker Coach Of Falcons

The Nigeria Female National Team, the Super Falcons will be led into their friendlies against Japan  by their new temporal caretaker coach; Coach Edwin Okon who was appointed by the Nation’s football body, the NFF.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF technical committee acting general secretary, Emmanuel Ikpeme, the recommendation is pending the ratification of the NFF Executive Committee.

The committee also recommended that the NFF executive committee has approved for the four-time African Woman Player of the Year Perpetua Nkwocha to proceed on a coaching course.

He also explained that Okon, who led the U20 women’s team, the Falconets, to the semi-finals of last year’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, hosted by Japan, will be assisted by Christopher Danjuma, with Bala Mohammed as goalkeeper coach.

According to him, “The duo will have charge of the team for only the friendly games, as substantive coaching crews for the Super Falcons, Falconets (U20) and Flamingos (U17) will be constituted in due course.”
