Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has asked his cabinet to work assiduously in formulating policies and programmes that will translate existing business opportunities in the state into real prosperity for the people.
He made this call while swearing in two newly appointed special advisers at the State Government House, Yenogoa, the state capital.
“I don’t know of any other responsibility that any person have in this Government that will be more challenging than the responsibilities that you are now taking on. So, while I congratulate you, I also expect you to fine-tune our economic policies or policy on investment promotion for the benefit of our people.”
Governor Dickson restated that his administration is committed towards diversifying the Bayelsa economy. He said his government would not relent in its efforts at attracting serious minded investors to the state.
“As you all know, you are joining Government at a time when our investment and economic promotion policies are fairly known. We are serious about turning this place around as a foremost investment destination for our country.”
“You are all aware of the several high profile visitors and business people and leaders that this State has attracted within this short period. Bayelsa is now better known outside this country than some sovereign nations.”
One of the new appointees, Chief Economic Adviser, Solomon Apreala, in his response expressed gratitude to the Governor for their appointment and promised to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them. Also sworn in was Special Adviser on Investment, Mr. Cyril Akika.
