The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has advised Nigerians to shun violence, as the country prepares for the general elections that will hold in 2015.

President Jonathan was speaking at a rally held in his honour by the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Owerri.

The president said that his political ambition or that of any politician was not worth the blood of Nigerians.

He assured the party supporters that the party would return to power in Imo State in 2015 as the new leadership of the party was creating a level playing field for all members.

The president’s visit also ushered in  top political big wigs that left the party including former Governor Achike Udenwa, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Chris Anyanwu and Dr. Alex Obi.

At the unity rally held at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, the Imo State capital, President, Goodluck Jonathan, welcomed the defected members of the All progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance back to the PDP, insisting that the PDP remains the only political party with the best ideology.

He also urged all Nigerians to support the PDP in order to continue to enjoy the dividends of the transformation agenda of his administration.

“The People’s Democratic Party is the only party that has stability and ideology to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians,” he told the converts.
