Ben KwashiA Nigerian clergy in one of the northern states has stressed the need for better conditions and encouragement for security agents fighting insurgency in the north east.

The Anglican Archbishop of Jos province, Most Reverend Benjamin Kwashi, told a gathering of professionals and women groups in Jos that security work must be backed-up with value for the lives of security officers to get the best out of them.

The Excellence Capacity Builders Initiative seminar held on Saturday looked at value reorientation with emphasis on value education, character formation, confidence building, self-esteem and developing positive attitudes in the face of security challenges.

Speakers at the seminar urged participants to always add value to other peoples’ lives by investing in people and taking care of their interests.

They pointed out that the current security challenge could be traced to lost value of life.

The Anglican Bishop of Jos believes that with adequate motivation and encouragement for security agents, the war against insurgencies in the north east could be won.

At the seminar the need for government at all levels to consider a reorientation of the value for life as a strategy of combating the insurgency in the north east was also emphasised.
