Governor-Ibrahim-Gaidam-Yobe-State
The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Yobe State has unanimously endorsed Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for a second term as the gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2015 general election.
The decision was reached on Thursday after a primary election which featured the participation of 2219 delegates of the party held in Damaturu, the state capital.
The chairman of the primary election in the state, Babagana Banki, said the endorsement of the governor to fly the party flag in the next election was sequel to pulling the total 2219 vote cast by all delegates at the primary.
He commended the cooperation given to the electoral committee for the success of the election, stressing that Yobe remained the home of the APC in Nigeria.
“I am happy with the support given to us by the All Progressive Congress in Yobe for the conduct of a peaceful primary which saw the emergence of the Governor as the gubernatorial candidate. With this decision, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam is the candidate of the party in the 2015 general election.”
Also speaking at the event, the Senator representing Yobe north further commended the security for their gallantry which he said paved the way for the peaceful conduct of the primaries.
He praised party faithful for their support in the emergence of the incumbent governor as the party flag bearer in the 2015 election whom he said had done well for the development of the state.
“I want to tell you that the people of Yobe state have done extremely well by endorsing the governor for the second term, because he has done well in the development of the state. We need the governor back so that he will consolidate on the progress he has achieved so far”.
The Senator also said the endorsement would give the Governor the opportunity to consolidate on his enormous success story.
The Deputy governor, Mr Abubakar Ali, thanked the electorate for giving the Governor another opportunity and assured them that the governor would not let them down.
He praised party loyalists for turning out in their numbers to vote massively for the endorsement of the governor.
