Kwara Govt. Approves 100 Million Naira For Market Men And Women

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, has approved the release of 100 million naira as micro credit loan for the marketers in the state.

This, according to the State Government, is to ensure orderliness and improve the economic base of market men and women in the state.

The Governor announced the approval of the fund to members of the State Marketers Association with an appeal that the beneficiaries should use the funds for their businesses and not default on the repayment schedule.

He noted that his administration has disbursed one billion naira to over 50,000 small business owners in the state since 2012, adding that the revolting loan scheme was to spur the informal sector into playing more critical roles in the state economy.

The President-General of Market Women in Nigeria, Mrs Shade Tinubu-Ojo, was full of praises and prayers for the gesture and urged the market women to reciprocate by voting the Governor for the second term.

The State President of KWAM, Alhaji Jimoh Tunde, said that the Governor’s developmental and empowerment programmes for the informal sector were unprecedented, thus he should have a second term in office.

The market women and men then adopted the Kwara State Governor as their governorship candidate in the 2015 governorship election.

The market men and women in the state had been operating in fragment phases until the State Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, brought them together under one union known as the Kwara Association of Marketers (KWAM).
