troopsMore than 5,000 security personnel were deployed ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in Kano State, north-west Nigeria.

Addressing the troops, the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, said that no chances would be taken in ensuring violence-free elections across the state.

The troops comprise operatives from the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Civil Defense, and all other paramilitary agencies.

Ibrahim Idris said that the officers are expected to ensure violence free elections at their respective Polling Units.

Meanwhile, INEC in Kano has also commenced the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
