Kano Governor To Provide Affordable Housing, Others

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing affordable housing, compulsory primary education and improved health care, as part of plans to transform the state.

To achieve these objectives, the Governor has tasked all political office holders and top government functionaries to shun corrupt practices and work closely with each other on the best means of accomplishing government polices, programmes and projects that would impact positively on the lives of people of the state.

Governor Ganduje gave the advice in Kaduna on Friday during a retreat for political office holders, top government functionaries and directors in the State Civil Service, organised by the office of the Kano State Head of Service.

According to the governor, his administration has embarked on various reforms that are aimed at reducing the cost of governance such as cutting down the number of ministries, departments and agencies for effective and efficient performance.

In his speech, the state Head of Service, Muhammad Naiya, said the retreat would afford participants the opportunity to understand the policy direction of the Ganduje’s administration and the need for all hands to be on deck for the successful achievement of its polices and programmes.

The retreat also availed participants the opportunity to understand the best practice in relation to the management of public resources, in order to achieve good governance for the people.

During the discussions, participants will examine the critical factors militating against the smooth implementation of government policies and programmes, coming up with solutions that will ensure a viable and sustainable socioeconomic development of the state.
