FIFA's Jose Marin Agrees To Be Extradited To USFormer President of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Jose Marin, has agreed to be extradited to the United States (US).

Marin was among seven officials from the global soccer body, FIFA who were arrested in May at their Zurich hotel, after being indicted on corruption charges in the US.

He was accused of having taken bribes in connection with sports marketing rights and had until now fought his extradition.

Like Marin, former FIFA Vice President, Jeffrey Webb, had also agreed to his own extradition to the United States.

FIFA had earlier confirmed that its executive committee would convene in Zurich, Switzerland  for an extraordinary meeting, to discuss the possibility of postponing the presidential election amid the ongoing crisis engulfing the football governing body.

Its ethics committee had suspended its former President, Sepp Blatter, who was accused of signing a contract “unfavourable” to football’s governing body and making a “disloyal payment” to UEFA President, Michel Platini.

Blatter, who had run FIFA since 1998, and Platini, who wants to succeed him, deny any wrongdoing.
