Mexico has officially started the process of extraditing drug kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, to the United States (US).
The authorities said Interpol officers served him papers at the Altiplano prison, near Mexico City.
58-year-old Guzman, escaped from the maximum security jail in July and was recaptured on Friday.
According to BBC, Mexico is also considering investigating Hollywood actor, Sean Penn, who interviewed Guzman soon after his jail break.
Undisclosed Mexican officials said Penn’s secret meeting helped lead them to the fugitive.
