Supreme Court Affirms Benue State Governor’s Election

The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit challenging the election of Mr Samuel Ortom as the governor of Benue State.

The Apex Court ruled on the ground that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the poll, Mr Tarzoor Terhemen, lacked locus standi to challenge the qualification of Mr Ortom.

Justice Nwali Ngwuta, who read the judgment, affirmed the election of Mr Ortom as Benue Governor and awarded 150,000 Naira, as cost against Mr Terhemen .
