JAMBMore protests have erupted, as successful applicants countdown to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The candidates that were yet to register for the exam protested on Saturday against the closure of the exam’s registration portal by JAMB.

They urged the examination body to re-open its portal, lamenting that they could not afford to stay another year without securing an admission.

Some of the parents of the applicants in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria have also joined their wards to express their displeasure with the act.

They noted that they were upset with the closure of the registration portal, stressing that it has denied the applicants a chance to sit for the 2016 exams which will hold next weekend.

Responding to the applicants’ claims, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, said that the portal that was presently opened was for the candidates to print their examination slip.

According to Professor Ojerinde, “examination slip is to give you a date, a time and the venue of the examination,” maintaining that the submission of forms had closed since January.
