Police Nab 19 Crime Suspects In Delta

PoliceThe Police have arrested a gang of 19 suspects for crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, made the disclosure to reporters while parading the suspects at the Delta State Police Command headquarters in southern Nigeria.

The Police Commissioner revealed that the suspects, arraigned for various crimes, were caught and arrested at different locations in the state.

Giving a breakdown of the suspects activities, he said some were members of an armed robbery group terrorising the Effurun Market involved in a gun battle with a team of soldiers while some others were members of a cult group who were apprehended on their way to carry out an attack on students of a polytechnic.

Mr Usman expressed delight that his command had continued to deliver on their mandate to protect lives and property.

He also requested for the cooperation of well-meaning residents in curbing crime in the oil-rich state.

Some of the items recovered from the suspects were locally made guns, cartridges and vehicles.

Meanwhile investigations are still going on while efforts are being made to apprehend other suspects yet to be arrested.
